Excluding players on EL contracts, name your best bargain player for the season.

Without showing too much hometown bias, I have to put Mike Santorelli at the top of the list. Last chance contract for a 28 year old hasn't-quite-panned-out player. Has a one way deal at 550K, he is tied for 3rd on the Canucks (with Kesler) with 26 points. Plays PP, PK, has played up and down the lines with success all year long. There were some dark games back in the fall where he was one of the only bright spots on the team.

im a leafs fan but I would have to say pk subban maybe. on a 2 year bridge contract, last year won the Norris getting paid 2mil (38 pts 42 games), this year 27 pts in 38 games and plus 11. he's making 3.75 this year but a respectable cap hit of 2.875mil.
he will cash in after this year and I expect next year we will be talking about him in the overpaid category.

Santorelli has been huge for the Canucks indeed. He's led the fwd's in ice time on some nights too. Another off the top of my head is Mason Raymond. Always liked this guy but he just couldnt find consistency here in Vancouver. Hopefully he keeps this good play up in TO.

Max Pacioretty on pace for 38 goals in 73 games Under the amazing cap hit of 4.5 million and at age 25 hes Under contract at 4.5 million untill he is 30. how many 30 goal scorers have a cap hit of 5 million or less?

Well, Ryan Kesler is on pace for 30+ and is a 5M hit. However, Patches, thanks to some missed games, is in fact on a great pace that pro-rated over a full season would be a 42 goal pace! Very impressive!

Dustin Penner 30 games played 10 goals 14 assists for 24 points, been a bit slow as of late with only one point in last 5 games, but is definitly a good bargain at 2 mil considering he should more than likely have a 20 goal 50 point season.

Jagr at $2M. Continuing with NJD, Andy Greene at 25minute per game defensemen at $3M

Teemu Selanne and Jagr come to mind, but Matt Moulson for the Sabres seems like a candidate. Fetched Vanek in a trade for the NYI/Buffalo and has quietly gone on to pace him for points on a horrible team in Buffalo at half his cap hit, while Vanek and the NYI have hit a downward spiral without him

how about mason Raymond. the leafs got this guy on a trial at the start of the season, and signed him barely above the league minimum. yet, he's been one of the best players on the team

agree about Raymond, glad to see he has found a home in TOR. I'm still waiting for the same Raymond that we used to see in VAN - fast but no finish - but he has impressed so far.

Raymond is the best bargain this year.

Sadly I choose Voynov over Raymond in my pool at the beginning of the season. The russian defense don't make points like in the last playoffs.

I like Matt Moulson as well (I'm still scratching my head on that trade) and also James Neal!

Raymond for Toronto comes to me first, for obvious reasons.

Jagr has been HUGE this year for New Jersey . . . for one of the oldest guys, and as an aging superstar . . . he has been an absolute beast, and on a cheap contract. In terms of New Jersey's situation with Kovalchuk leaving, and worth to the team . . . I think Jagr would be #1 for me.

Quite a bit of a Eastern bias so far. I'm going to go west and name two Sharks - Pavelski at $4M and Couture at $2.8M. Yes there cap goes up next year but for this year they are on the cheap and near point per game.

Alex Steen - 'nuff said.

I'm not sure how anyone with a 4M cap hit can be considered a "bargain", unless its Crosby or Toews... I think Pavelski is doing exactly what he gets paid to do (take note TOR fans - this is what you should be expecting of Clarkson!), and is getting paid well to do it.

Couture, no doubt about it - his current bridge deal has allowed him to show he's the real deal, and he has. 2.8M for that kind of production is well worth it.
