LeClaire was a great goal scorer, but for me he wasn't elite for a long enough period to be considered for the Hall. With just over 400 goals and 800 points, he falls quite a bit short. He had a few solid campaigns in Montreal, but was a different player the moment he arrived in Philly during the 94-95 season. From that time until 2000 he was one of the leagues top goal scorers. He had to battle through some injuries later in his career.
Off topic slightly, but I was just looking at the stats from that 2005-06 Penguins team that John LeClaire was apart of and ended up clicking on Ziggy Palffy. I was surprised at just how solid his career numbers were. Not counting his first 2 part seasons, he had a point per game or above in 9 of the 10 seasons he was in the league. The only year he didn't was 2001/02 when he came close with 59 points in 63 games. Fairly impressive for the era he played in.
