I'll start with, it's an extremely difficult list to make, and I think that they did a decent job of it.
The biggest difficulty I always have is, defining "greatest" . . . and my common answer to any of my hockey buds when answering the question of who is the greatest goaltender of all time is this:
Greatest goaltender of all time in a single season? Hasek (two seasons actually)
Greatest goaltender over an entire career? Brodeur
Greatest goaltender when it comes to pressure/winning/playoffs? Roy (I always define this as the greatest "money" goaltender)
So in the end, I order it this way 1) Roy 2) Brodeur 3) Hasek
...but I totally get mixing up that order in any way, as it really depends what you place more importance on.
For me, I'd never put goalies on the list from decades past where I never watched that hockey, and it's a totally different era.
So for me, I'd round out the top 5 with . . . *4) Ed Belfour 5) Roberto Luongo
*I would put Tretiak here if I was including non-NHLers.
