It was nice to see 4 shutouts last night. I think that is the most we have seen in a single night so far this season. Don't get me wrong, I find the high scoring games quite entertaining and I understand it is helping sell the game, but there is nothing like a 1-0 game to get the goalie in me excited. I hope we see more of the low scoring games as we get closer to the playoffs.

I was at the Canada / Finland World Junior Game and it was a shut out too! (4 - 0) Great goaltending at both ends, the Fins were just overwhelmed. I agree it is nice to see a few games that showcase some backstopping too.

Shutouts are better tenfold when the goalie has to make 40-50 shots to get it. Those make sweet showcases.

Absolutely correct. If the chances are low and the scoring opportunities are few then a shut out game is a little boring. Lots of shots and HUGE saves are killer!
