In the summer CBC made a promise that they would not be bias towards the Maple Leafs all year, well they lied. Tonight is the perfect example: For those of you who live outside of Ottawa and Montreal or dont have NHL center ice, you will be stuck watching the Toronto/Pheonix game instead of Ottawa/Philly or Montreal/Buffalo. Which in my opinion are both much better games then the Toronto one. C,mon CBC get your act togethor!

I agree with you in principle...In principle!
I'm actually looking forward to tonight's game...How often do we get to see Phoenix? So I'm excited about that....
CBC also lied about another thing...They said Bob Cole would only do a select few games, yet he's still doing them all...Oh well, it's his last year, so I'll give the dog a bone...I'm kind of glad we don't have to see Mont/Buff. After the last few years, TSN has always had a habit of showing a lot of Sabres games (probly cause it's close to toronto).....But The Sens/Flyers game would be unreal...Both those teams are playing solid...it's too bad saturday with hockey couldn't be like Sunday with football..You know, a lot of channels showing games. So we could pick... cause saturdays are always the busiest day, and there are soooooooo many games I'd like to see...Instead of just canadian teams (Even though I love the leafs, hahaha)

Sugar Ray over Hasek any day!

Well I have Satelite, meaning I have CBC Edmonton, Calgary, Toronto, Hamilton, Ottawa and Vancouver. So I can watch practically all the Hockey Night in Canada Games.

Also CBC has false information. Im not sure if it is my satellite service or CBC's fault but in the game description it says "Veterans are going head to head tonight with Mats Sundin and Jason Blake leading the Toronto Maple Leafs and Shane Doan and Marty Turco for the Phoenix Coyotes". I was like WOAH! Phoenix got Turco when I read this but I searched it up and found out no such trade occured.

They are liars and what's even worse is the leafs are getting their asses kicked (4-1 at the end of the first!)... the only enjoyable thing about watching this game is seeing if maurice is going to have an aneurysm.

I'm pretty dissapointed the french cbc doesn't show the habs games anymore.

I sure wished they hadn't shown The Leafs tonight as that was brutal and oh so painful to watch. That Philly/Sens game looked like a good one and all I got here in Hamilton was the last five minutes of it on CBC. I really can't figure out my Leafs because of late they have at least been in all their games but tonight they were simply awful and lucky because that score was flattering to them.

It is good to know that CBC is streaming all the games. I guess I will be on the computer allot on Saturday nights from now on. Thanks for that info.

I would love to see the next NHL TV contract open up games on Saturday Nights to other channels. Just like IHC had said, have it like Sunday NFL football. If the powers still want a restriction, they can say that the games have to be televised Nationally (ie, Rogers Sportsnet) and that CBC is the only one allowed to have the double header.

I wonder if the TO fans/media would still be convinced their team is so popular when everyone outside of the GTA are watching the games TO is not involved in. The CBC TO game might have the highest single game rating, but I am thinking if RSN and TSN were each showing a game, the combined viewers of those two would be higher than CBC.

Wayne or Bobby?? How about both!!!

I still can't figure out at least if the Leafs are not playing and Ottawa or Montreal is playing that night why, when Sportsnet is carrying the game it is blacked out in Southern Ontario? The same goes for the western regionals. It makes me freaking mad. I would think their viewership would be allot higher for hockey than British darts or Los Vegas poker for crying out loud.

The only good parts about that game was:

Jim Hughson, not Bob Cole
The Leafs losing badly.

this is exactly what i mean when i talk about the leafs being forced upon the rest of canada. antromn tries to explin it in terms of the south ontario populatoin being so great that that is where the revenue is and so and so on. this is true in a way but that does not make it right to us way out west who get zero coverage on our games.
as much as i hate it, i dont think it will ever change.

It's the almighty dollar. As I believe Antroman said, it does indeed boil down to population. Toronto is the 5th largest television market in North America (the other 4 I believe are New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Atlanta and Dallas.) So CBC goes for the advertising bucks pretty much every Saturday night. Now I'm a Leaf fan (but more importantly a hockey fan first), and even I'd rather see any combination of Buffalo/Montreal/Ottawa, or the Western Canadian teams rather than say Toronto/Phoenix.

As far as Radio-Canada (French CBC) not showing Habs games, I think it's because RDS (French TSN) has the rights.
