Between Gomez and Drury, who has been the biggest free agent bust?

Are you kidding me? He's not doing bad at all. Not ass high as expected, but still helping the Rangers be alot better than last year. Gomez?! What has he done?!

Could I just say both are equal in the bust department. Neither one of them are living up to their hype at all. The Rangers in general are playing like crap, offensively that is.

I don't agree. The Rangers are sitting third in conference for a reason.
Its a common misonception that if the stars aren't scoring, the team isn't. But they're getting a lot of secondary help.
So Jagr, Gomez, and Drury aren't having career years. What of it? I think they could have a shot at the cup this year. I'd rather have the trophy than 30 more points on the scoresheet.

The reason isn't becuase Drury is playing well, it's becuase most of the team is playing well. Drury is playing like crap.
Ellis or Mason?

He isn't doing what he is getting paid for. So technically, he is failing. And since their are such high expectations, we see the failure to be more than if it were a fourth liner.
Still, I think that he is a big part of the success. He brings leadership, and takes some of the spotlight away from the other guys who can relax and do their jobs. Marcel Hossa, for example, has played especially well this year. As I said in the Pittsburgh Penguins forum, I think that young players trying to overachieve is recipe for disaster. Individually, no, Drury isn't a suspersar. But I think he will be a big part of a good team this year.
I would liken him to Gary Roberts of the Stanley Cup Run by the Leafs in 02, of the top of my head. I'm sure there are better examples.

I have also been a fan of Drury. Although, not classified as a superstar... he is a leader. And a team needs a strong leader.
He performs where he is needed right now, I think.
But as for producing points, he's slightly busting. But, plenty of others can provide the points. He can provide the leadership. Perhaps it will balance.

They are so far equal busts, neither player has contributed to his team the salary that they demanded...

Drury had one superstar year, and that was last year. Gomez was not hired for stats, he generally hasn't had them. The Rangers were 6th last season with Jagr and Nylander proving to be very offensive. They obviously don't need the talent in that department, they want to be cup contenders.

I wouldn't exactly call these two "busts" but they definitely aren't playing up to their standards. They are both playing equally well so I'll say Gomez because he's getting paid more. |

They're both producing points just not the points people expected them to produce with Jagar and Shanahan and the rest of the New York stars. With a matter of time they will start to click with their new teammates like they have been doing and start to rack up the points game by game

drury has never scored less then 20 goals in his career,,, he has close to the most gwg among all active palyers is he elite no, but i'd take him on my team anyday and hes not playing poorly at all,, dont forget drury is also and also has always been a defensivly responisble forward,, not bad for a 20 and 30 goal scorer

Yes, Pasty, but is 20 goals significant compared to the top picks in fantasy pools? There is obviously a difference between a guy like Drury who can take his team and make it a winner, or a guy like Hossa, working with Kovalchuk, who can't win despite each getting 100 something points.
