Hello fellow poolies,
I am planning on starting a new keeper league as soon as I have enough people to make it viable. Say a dozen teams. There will be a salary cap. You keep your players for as long as they are under contract in the NHL, when they become a UFA in the NHL thats when you lose the player. When I have 12 people interested in joining we will take a vote on some of the lesser details, but the ones mentioned above are definates as far as I am concerned.
Let me know, it would be nice to have the league up and going by Feb, and we can do it for the playoffs too.

Sounds kind of fun.
Couple questions first,
How many players per team
how will draft order be determined
how are we all going to get togeather to pick?
Forums would likely take too long.
(i suggest a chat server. (example: IRC - internet relay chat.))
or i can run a web chat.
other than that, i'll be in.

There will be 3 LW, 3 RW, 3C, 3F, 6D, 4Back up (any combination of players) and 2G.
the style of determining the draft order will be determined by vote.
getting together is obviously impossible given that we are probably all all over the place. We will have to do it when the majority of us are available. The people that cant be available for the draft will have to give me their draft list and I will pick the best available players on their lists.
IRC would be good, it sounds like you know what you are doing in this regard, so if you want to be in charge of giving out that info to all the GMs when we have a date and time set up for the draft day that would be great...
as a side note here. I am part of a keeper league with a bunch of friends, it works very well, I enjoy it immensely, though there are some changes to the way our keeper league works that I personally think would make it more like owning and running an NHL team that I want to implement in this keeper league. I hope that we can get enough people interested in this league! :)

It will absolutely start as soon as we have 12 serious people ready to get in on it. It is looking good so far, though we have a few more people to get, if you guys currently showing interest have buddies that might be interested invite them.
the points will go like this:
G (1), A (1), +/- (.3333), PIM (.1), PPP (.5), SHP (1), GWG (1), SOG (.1), W (2), SV (.0667), SHO (3)
I dont know how we would measure chemistry, injury-prone-ness (nice word), or morale, so lets just stick with the basic stats mentioned above...
An F is a Forward
So as it stands now we have 5 people... me, Hockster, Alex, Shinny, and Irvine. Not bad considering I posted this idea only 2 days ago... :)
Oh, included in all those players that we will have lets add 2 free rookies.
With the keeper league that I am currently in we use CDMs values for determing the cap. I think we should do that for this league. Unless pickuphockey has something like that in place...
Oh and BTW just in case you want to know, I am first place currently in my other keeper league out of 14 teams (I am not the commish in that league) I was dead last last year! lol guess what my team name is? last2first I chose that name before the season started.... LOL

I like to use CDMfantasysports.com for the player values. They value the players according to how they think the player will do and how the player did last season.
trading is allowed

Just my 2 cents:
It's highly unlikely that we will have everyone on at the same time to be able to draft completely. I suggest that we have the draft over a series of days. Maybe a time line of 24 hours to make your pick.
Just a thought, as it would only take one person not on at the right time to mess the whole thing up.

Alright im 8815, just forgot to login. But anyways I think we should start the draft ASAP and have it go however long until done. Also how will we determine draft order? And once again do we use NHL teams or created teams?

| I'd love to join the league if there is any room left. Even though I live in Sweden a draft in the morning or afternoon on a weekend wouldn't be a problem for me(6-8 hours ahead). |

| I do not agree that a player is automatically lost just because they are an UFA. If you really want to make the league as realistic as possible, you should give the option of keeping the UFA if he resigns with his team. |

Hello all...
I am so sorry that I havent been on lately, I have been so busy with home stuff... You know having a new-born and all that!!! :) Anyways it is obviously too late to be starting a keeper league that will be running this year but starting up one that will be on next year is sure doable...

Once we have 12 people interested we will get the ball rolling. Since we will have all summer to do the draft I think doing it on this message board will work. The order that people get can be determined by myself and my wife. I will put every bodies names in a hat and have her pick out the names... I think that is the fairest.
Again, I am sorry that things didnt work out for this year, it was a little bit late anyways eh?
