Weight and Finnish left-winger Erkki Rajamaki head to Carolina, while the Blues get right-winger Jesse Boulerice, centre Mike Zigomanis and rights to unsigned draft pick Magnus Kahnberg, along with a first-round and fourth-round draft picks in 2006 and a fourth-round pick in 2007. Looks like the Sillinger trade was just the start of the St. Louis Blues fire sale. Staal and Weight on the same line = Stanley Cup run
I think in the long-run St. Louis got the better deal, and at the same time it makes the Hurricanes legitimate contenders. I have a feeling though that they could fall in the second round...kind of like when the Leafs made all the deals for all the oldies so they could go all out.
I thought it was funny. Anyways, I think that it was a pretty good deal for both teams. I heard that the Hurricanes still have another 9 million to spend before they hit the cap. That is some good management!
