Don't know if this will fly or not, but lets give it a shot
Here’s your chance to be an arm-chair General Manager of your favourite team.
I’ve just been hired by Richard Peddie as JFJ’s replacement. My objective it to pull the trigger on some deals that will help the Leafs become a top 5 team within three years.
You guys are the GM’s of your favourite team (other than the Leafs). Tell me which team you have chosen, and make me some offers.
I’ll either accept or decline the deal. After each completed deal, I’ll post the revised Leafs roster.
Everyone is available for trade, including guys on the farm.

The only purpose of this "game" is to play GM. There will be no real winner.
It's just your chance to play GM, and make deals to make your team better prior to the trade deadline.
At the end we can explain what our motivation was, and if we are satisfied with what our team looks like.

We gotta keep the salary cap in mind, I'll monitor that.
Anyone on the Leafs roster is available for trade, looking to get back young talent.

Datsyuk1, you basically want to improve your team before the trade deadline.
For example, you may want Sundin from me. Since Toronto's not going anywhere, I'm listening to offers. Make me an offer, as long as I agree, and it fits in the cap, we can make a trade.
There's no way of telling what the outcome of the trade is really, but it's just us pretending like we're Cliff Fletcher and Brian Burke.

Habs get number 25 this year
Markov has a cap hit of $1.96 million remaining for this year and it $5.75 for the next 3 years.
Kaberle has a cap hit of $1.40 million remaining for this year and $4.25 for the next 3 years.
Either way I’m not making this deal, because I’m looking to free up cap space and get some young talent. Markov is only a few months younger than Kaberle.

The Avs would like to make an offer for Mats Sundin.
We are willing to offer Marek Svatos, a 1st round pick, and a 3rd round pick. But also, we would like a guarantee that the Leafs will not attempt to resign Sundin after this season. Also, as an added bonus, we are willing to offer a 4th round pick if Sundin is willing to sign a 3 year deal immediately with the Avs organization.
What say you? |

I wasn't sure, but can a player sign a longterm contract with another team before he goes into free-agency? If not, then we can make a "nudge-nudge wink-wink" type of deal where he gives us a verbal promise that he will sign with the Avs after this season. That will be good enough for us  |

Guys everyone except Nik Backstrom and Alex Ovechkin are up for trade. I am looking for some overall offensive talent doesn't mater if they're young or old. Also need a good young goalie.

Also, is there a site to find out what draft picks teams currently have? Because I wouldn't like negotiating something I don't have. |
