Gotta be Ovechkin. This kids 3 years into his career and is tearing it up. Iginal is at his prim right now and will be on fire for a few years. But in the end Ovechkin will be the better player. |

Agreed, it has to be potential. Iggy is now reaching his potential and will be peaking soon. Ovechkin has so many years in front of him that he has more "potential" almost by default. The question doesn't have anything to do with who will be the better player in the end. In that respect I'd say a large number of prospects probably have more potential than Ovechkin as he has also reached a level of potential. I mean how much more can he do? 60, 70 goals? 120, 130 pts? that's the extent of his potential. If you take prospects like Stamkos or Tavares and say who knows they could be 50 goal, 100 pt guys, but they're not yet, so therefore they have more potential. |

That first potential was meant to say Ovechkin. |

ovechkin is better hands down... well maybe not hands down since iginla can make plays rather than score but for a guy to get like 45+ goals a season on a team like the caps is pretty good
ill say ovechkin has more potential

Everything has been said for me, I will go with Ovechkin. The only potential blow to his potential is that he will be spending the next 13 years on a rebuilding team, you have to wonder what type of support system he will have in comparisson to some of the not as great players with better framework around them.

Just think in 2 years since Ovechkin has came players like Mike Green, Nik Backstrom, Michael Nylander and Viktor Kozlov have came and if they keep rebuilding at this pace I think they'll be set in a year or 2 and soon will be in the hunt for the cup. |

The guest said it best. Iginla's been in the league for 10+ years I believe, while Ovechkin is just starting out.

I personally think that Ovie has the most potential because he is just staring out on a not so great team but he makes them great by being a great two way player and a great goal scorer at an early point in his carear, but i guess as a said in my other Ovie post i guess only time will tell if he can go into the HHOF
