Simply, what's your favourite non-hockey hockey memory?

Let me ellaborate.
Mark Messier comes in and says ''we WILL win game 6'' They go on to win the cup. Great, great memory.
The loonie planted in Salt Lake in 2002.
Lemieux coming back from chemo to play in a game that very night / Saku coming out with a bald head to join his team in the post season.
I wanted to keep the question short and sweet, as per the advice given to me by our admin, and let you guys get your juices flowing through a post like this one.
Also, while I personally am not very knowledgable in the game as my ''watching career'' spans about 7 years, I would appreciate if someone with a couple years on me made a poll with the most memorable non-hockey moments that maybe could get featured. Your call, but in any case, leave your comments over here

Interesting idea. But just curious isn't a "hockey watching moment" a hockey related thing? Care to elaborate more because when I read this topic I thought it would be something along the lines of "Zidane head butting Giovanni (correct?) in the World Cup". Like something actually not hockey realted whether it be basketball, soccer, real life or anything. |

It's hard to try and define it. Not really a play, but a historic hockey moment.
The Wings centre ice goal counts, as does the infamous ''too many men on the ice'' at the hands of Don Cherry.

How about the three streakers running out on to the ice at the Montreal forum in the 70's.
No cup for Dino, what a shame |

The Ales Hemsky miracle goal against Dallas last year. Was at that game and for a 13 year old, was my second favorite moment. First being the Heritage Classic and being able to watch the Great One and no I am not talking about Crosby. The real Great One, #99 himself. |

How about the fan going into the Montreal Canadians practice and taking a couple shots and then getting kicked off! |

Among my faves... Canada winning the 72 series, the U.S. Miracle on ice series, and I just can't leave out Tie Domi going after 'the fan'. |

Not my favorite probably but thought this type of thing probably qualifies under this thread, right Alex?

The Flyers record when Kate Smith sang this is unbelievable, isn't it? Kind of a cool little stat. Check out Orr and Espo at the very end shaking her hand. Very nice touch.

How about the drunken fool that jumps on the ice and runs around until Donuts Don Koharski just smashes him with a body check into the boards ! It happened at a Sabres game, but I can't recall if it was in Buff or not.
The Clint Malarchuk throat injury is an ugly one that comes to mind...esp after recent events. But that happened during play so technically it doesn't count here I think.

I'd have to say either Tie domi's going after the fan or dennis wideman's wipeout! hilarious! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xMLGO03o_9E&NR=1
one of my buddies knows him and asked him about it. his excuse, "the equipment manager did a really bad job on my skates" oh dennis. you are way too cocky! but one heck of a hockey player
"I'm not dumb enough to be a goalie." Brett Hull. |

For me, it's a tie between two personal moments:
1. I am working at a hotel the year Dallas just won the cup with Brett Hull's skate in the crease. The HHOF awards are taking place in Toronto, and I happen to escort Ken Hitchcock to his room to sort out some issues he was having. A 15 minute private conversation about hockey with the Cup winning coach . . . cherished memory. He's a class act.
2. A year ot two later, I am down at Casino Niagara gambling, and I am losing at the poker tables so I walk around looking for some roulette to waste my money on. I run into Kirk Muller, recognise him, and shake his hand. We get into a light conversation, and walk over to the roulette table together and sit down. A half hour with Kirk, mostly me asking questions and him telling me some hockey stories, as I won money and he lost. Great family guy and super friendly and down to earth.

I really like Alfie's taunt of Sundin when he ''threw his stick'' in to the crowds after snapping it.
All time best has to be Super Mario coming back from Hodgkins treatment to play the same day!
