What is your all-time favourite hockey movie?

Slap Shot all the way it was a beauty. The biography on the Lavell Cheifs is pretty good as well. |

Honestly, I hated Slapshot! I thought the plot was terrible, the acting was terrible, and the hockey was terrible! I was very disappointed. My favourite hockey movie would probably be Miracle, even tho its the USA!

I kinda liked Mystery Alaska.
I watched it a few years ago and didn't think much of it, but I watched it again a couple of weeks ago and took a liking to it.

Mystery Alaska is good.
Thortonistheman did you see the ole Slapshot movie or the newer one they came out with a few years ago? if it was the newer one i agree. The old one however was an instant classic. |

No, it was definitly the old one that i saw. Paul Newman? Everyone had been telling me that it's hilarious and a great movie etc. so i watched it. I was so disappointed! It felt like i had wasted 2 hours of my life.

Mighty Ducks was such a good series! I remember watching it in hockey camp and loving it at the time! Goldberg is my favourite character!
I also liked MVP, but more for its nostalgic value (it was my boyhood movie) than for its actual content. I rewatched it recently and, while it is obviously good, Mighty Ducks outclasses it.
Another great was ''Mircale''. Funny story there, my hockey coach actually took the whole team to watch the movie before the palyoffs. We ended up getting kicked out in the first round!
I would love to see The Rocket

I loved Rocket and Mystery, Alaska was good too. Mighty Ducks was a fav. when I was a kid. I never saw Miracle, and don't think I want to. Not that it's American, it just didn't look that good. Oh yeah, Slapshot rules... still haven't seen the sequel. |

It's hard to find info on this movie but in the early 1970s there was one called "Face-off" which, although cheesy at times, is kind of interesting on a few levels. It gets into NHL team politics and shows parts of Toronto, such as Yorkville in the early '70s. It also has cameos by George Armstrong and Derek Sanderson - has actually hockey scenes including a scuffle between Sanderson and the main character (who was Number 18, so his skating scenes were done by then Number 18 for the Leafs - Jim McKenny). The actor was Art Hindle.
Has anyone seen this? |
