Poll Question:
How do you see the leafs doing the Leafs doing this upcoming 08/09 season if all players remain decently healthy and play to their full ability.

Choices:

Stanley Cup Contender
Deep In The Playoffs
Eliminated Early In Playoffs
Just Barely Out Of Playoffs
Bottom 3 In Conference
Last In Conference

wow seriously?

anyway i said eliminated early in playoffs. something tells me with the team they've built this off season has a decent chance of making the playoffs but unless they get put up against a crappier team i can see them getting knocked out early

Lf94 just edit your post...no need to post twice. It was also pretty obvious sarcasm.

I am the biggest Leafs fan you will ever meet but I have no problem with telling the truth and the truth is that the leafs will be contending for a lottery position and hopefully tank towards the end for a shot at John Tavares.

They have done nothing to build their team in the offseason and with the acquisition of Jeff Finger for 3.5 million a year for 4 years just shows that they wouldn't mind dropping off for a couple years.

Like Ron Wilson said... "Sometimes you need to take a step back to go forward".

I fear a long season for the Buds. I put 'bottom three". I hope I'm wrong, but I don't see a lot of promise.

What have they done to improve??? I think they may have actually gotten worse.

I see the potential for the #1 draft pick next year. Might not be a bad idea, at least they could start rebuilding.

Yes as a leafs fan I obviosly want them to win the cup but they have not improved at all and this is why . Hagman replaces Tucker, Mayers replaces Kilger,Finger replaces Gill & Joseph replaces Raycroft . But one more thing we probally wont have Sundin . So I see us finishing 2 last in our conferance.

who cares if we dont have sundin bozy were better of without him the last 4 years. he killed the team anyway.

i mean yeah hes a great player. he might encourage the team asmudge in the locker room. but when it comes down to game time. he falls asleep. he ruined the leafs cup run in 02 and im gladd if he doesnt come back.

Hey LRP, I think you're talking aboutme right there. The Leafs should be a bottom 5 team next year. No legitimate scorers, no rock solid defenseman and no desire to win. The Leafs know they can tank and get a top 2 pick (I like the guy at second as much as I like Taveras. Watch out for him, his name is Victor Hedman).

Their aquisitions are more for the future. The new players are faster, more hard hitting and bump and grind kinda guys, which replaces the grit Tucker lost, Gill's lack to ever hit anyone and Kilger's defensive play. This will suit to the style of hockey the Leafs will play in 2-3 years.
