Poll Question:
Who got the better deal in the recent trade that sent Leafs long-time defenceman Bryan McCabe (and a fourth round pick) to the Panthers in return for Mike Van Ryn?

Choices:

Florida Panthers
Toronto Maple Leafs

I'm thinking it was a tie for their respective agents... :)

I am actually hoping the change will allow McCabe some room to play instead of being butchered by the Toronto media every game, he's not nearly as bad a player as the Leafs made him look methinks...hopefully Van Ryn's deal comes with a psychologist...he may need it..

Not really a winner here at all, T.O gains a lil bit of cap space. McCabe isn't bad anyways.

I didn't think that McCabe was that bad for T.O. either. My question is this: why the hell did the Leafs have to throw in the draft pick? Completely unnecessary.

I will always think it funny when there is a negative 'general vibe' throughout the league about a specific player. This appears to be the case with McCabe not only because of the Leafs having to throw in the draft pick, but also because they committed a cardinal error by dealing with a team that they are always in a close position with on the playoff bubble. The Panthers appear to have been the only remotely interested party.
McCabe may very well get revenge on Leaf fans this year. He might break a few hearts with a timely goal or two against the Buds.
