They made a site so that you can automatically vote for the Habs players. That's so queer. Before I didn't really care they were leading and stuff, i was like oh well, but seriously they're going to that extent to get their players there? That's pretty weak.

What/???????????? points are not the only thing that matter ,, i'm tired on the lack of recognition defensive d men get,,, markov makes so many mistakes in his own end yet he is better than Komisarek?? Komi is one of the best Defense men in the league! a d man job starts in his own end personally i dont like d men like markov who sacrafice their own zone to lead an attack, sure they're an important part of the game but defensive d man are much more important,, its like when souray made the all star game back ?? he was like -29 on the season a leagues worst,,, but he could score!!?

Did it look like I was joking? I've been playing hockey for 20 years and this is the first I've heard of it. |

Well I dont know if I can beleive you've played hockey for 20 years if you dont know what a dangel is. A dangel is fancy stick handelling. EX:Rick Nash's OT winner last year in Pheonix I think, if you watch the replay you will see some dangels. Thats the best I can explain it. |

Fancy stickhandling is just that, fancy stickhandling. Dangling is a ridiculous term for video games and kids. |

ummm sorry....i think that most nhl players would agree that dangle is a term more commonly used in the league then "fancy stickhandling". Thats like calling a snipe an accurate placement of the puck...you do know what a snipe is right? |

i personally think you are just poorly explaining a dangle,,,, if i may i believe it is when a player appears to be moving to one side and suddenly brings the puck back almost behind him as he cuts across into the slot thus set such player up perfecly to release a monster wrist shot or bring the puck back around for a fancy move,,,, Alex Kovalev in my opinion does this the most and the best

That's weird because I've seen many, many, many interviews and often heard of the term deke and stick handling but have never once heard a professional hockey player use the term dangle. In fact I'd dare say that if you told Gordie Howe he had quite the dangle on him you'd be walking away with few teeth then you started with. |

an allstar game shouldn't be about that it should be about the recognition of the nhl's best players and the best players in the nhl don't nessiarly all dangle and score

If you just took the most entertaining players and left out the best players Scott Stevens and like players would be left on the outside looking in. How is this even remotely justifiable? |

This is a much better example but anyway the terms been around as long as I can remember.
Oh and infact last night after the Oil Leafs game on sportsnet the commentators used the term "Dangel" when talking about Alex Hemsky. |

No i fully understand what you are saying, I just mean its all about points for the Allstar game and sick dangles and skills. Not so much defensive aspects. I agree fully with everything you just said about Komi I just mean for the Allstar game its all about points and such.

Agreed the All Star game is not about defense. It's about entertainment for the fans and recognition for the players that are putting up the points.
Honestly who would watch an All Star game if it was being marketed as being "The Greatest Defensive Battle of All All Star Games".
Fans want excitment and that's what the league is going to give them. |

Dangle - the action of preforming a move or deke with the puck in order to get past a defender or goalie. Probably from It looks like he's dangling the puck on a string.
That is from Wikipedia

Although the "dangle" discussion was entertaining as all hell, I can't believe that people haven't heard of it. I also can't believe that no-one could accurately explain it until Axey did!!
Yes, it totally comes from the idea of a guy "dangling the puck from a string". Imagine a guy stickhandling so insanely through everyone that it appeared he was actually "dangling the puck from a string"...suggesting that was tied to his stick and he would never lose it, he was so good.
I've just never heard it used as a noun before...a "dangle"...as opposed to the verb form of "he dangled the puck around around".
And yes, the Habs voting thing is ridiculous, but it doesn't matter...it's just an entertainment showcase.....although I did find it very entertaining when Scott Stevens "lowered the boom" - another term. |
