Replace Spezza with Mike Richards and I put money on it that Lucic steals Morrows spot if Morrow does not come back completely healthy

are you serious about green? he is one of the most talented up and coming defensemen in the league and by 2010 will be one of the top if not top defensemen in the league

I would add Scott Niedermayer instead of Sheldon Souray if he is still playing then...Souray might have a better shot from the point, but with the speed and talent of the forwards in the Olympics, Sheldon Souray would be overwhelmed and he couldn't handle it...I've seen it happen too many times in Montreal...Niedermayer still has the speed and skating abilities to rival with the best of them

I'm sick of you Habs fans constantly bashing Souray. We all know {ADMIN EDIT - CONTENT REMOVED} like to chase away good players (Roy for example) after they make a few mistakes. Every good defenceman has been beat at times in their career, I've seen Pronger get walked around many times, (besides Souray would be chosen for his offensive skills so he would probably see more pp time then pk time). And whoever said Bertuzzi is out of their mind. That's what team Canada needs...someone who will get a penalty after being told to stay out of the box (ex.Calgary vs Detroit...Keenen tells the team in the 2nd intermission to stay out of the box and Bertuzzi gets a stupid penalty in the 1st minute of the 3rd period. And he also sucked in the last Olympics.

I was Guest9165 and I agree that Souray would be great on the PP but Niedermayer would also be for his passing abilities and he has a very decent shot as well...Also, with the forwards we will have on team Canada, the last thing I would want to see is the PP focused on Sheldon Souray when we have natural goal scorers like Heatley, Nash, Iginla just to name a few...And one more thing, Niedermayer is great at getting the puck in the zone and can find the open player way better than Souray...I honestly would prefer still having Souray in MTL over many guys, but he ain't no Hall of Famer like Niedermayer...give the guy the respect he deserves

Hall of Famer, yes....but that is where he should be now. Niedermayer is past his prime and by 2010 he will be out of the picture as an Olympic athlete. I do agree with you in the point that we shouldn't have to depend on Souray's big shot on the PP, but it would be a nice addition. As for being a good puck mover....that's why guys like Pronger, Green, and Campbell would be there. And I'm also not too worried about Souray in our defensive end, he may not be good 1 on 1 but he is a great positional player and knows how to use his stick which helps clog up shooting lanes and cause turn-overs.

TEAM CANADA 2010

Forwards

Heatley - Crosby - Iginla
Nash - Thornton - Getzlaf
Staal - Lecavalier - Toews
Morrow - Richards* - Doan

*Mike Richards

Extras: Savard, Lucic

Reasoning: With dynamic superstar Sidney Crosby in the middle, and veteran two snipers on the wings, the top line will provide the necessary firepower to rival the Russian line of Malkin, Ovechkin and Semin/Kovalchuk. The second line is a power line, with three guys that are big and skilled, plus the fact that Thornton and Nash have chemistry from previous tournaments. The Staal - Lecavalier - Toews line is an interesting one. All three are solid two-way players, especially Toews. Lecavalier has also scored important goals in previous international events. Finally, my personal favourite, the crunch line. This dominanting line of Morrow, Richards and Doan will provide energy, score a few goals and scare the crap out of the opponents.

Defense

Pronger - Burns
Phaneuf - Weber
Green - Regehr

Extras: Bouwmeester

Reasoning: Pronger, who will likely captain the Team (considering that Sakic and Niedermayer retire), is matched up with youngster Brent Burns to create the top pair. Dion and Shea form the second pair. Phaneuf and Weber join in a reunion from the WJC, when they absolutely punished opposing forwards. Finally the offensively talented but defensively liable Green will match up with the defensive stalwart but offensively liable Regehr. Robyn will have to backcheck extra hard, as Green is known for rushing a lot.

Goalies

Luongo
Brodeur

Extras: Turco

Reasoning: Self-explanatory.

Geez, I wonder if you are a Flamer fan?? Regehr before Boumeester!!!!? You got to be out of your mind. I'm suprised you didn't throw Bertuzzi on the first line.

Bouwmeester will only be 26 in 2010. As you have noticed, I have already inserted Burns (24), Weber (24), Phaneuf (24) and Green (24). Without Regehr, Pronger would be the only veteran on the team. Moreover, Regehr is substantially better defensively than Bouwmeester is, who is a better skater and offensive D-man. Also, as I have already mentioned in my previous post, you need a defensive specialist to play with Mike Green, who rushes a lot and makes a lot of defensive mistakes. Finally, it's not about individual players being selected into the Olympics, it's about the outlook of your team. 1-on-1 I agree Bouwmeester > Regehr, but Regehr fits the needs of Team Canada more.
