Is this team for real? Is this the year that they win the Cup thereby allowing Andyhack to move on with the rest of his life?

It's alway dangerous to start making predictions only 30 games in, but man, they are looking sick! And I mean sick in a good way. All those years of Boston toiling away as an average to below average teams has put them in a great spot. And to think the entire league wrote off the Bruins for the next decade when they decided it was time for Joe to head West.
Seriously, the core of that team is wicked, not just for now but for the future. Only 8 skaters over the age of 30! Blake Wheeler as a legitimate Calder candidate. And how good it that Dennis Wideman kid??? They drafted and traded very well!
Honestly, if you look at the recipe from the Cup as of late, 2 solid scoring lines, an effective shut down line, 4+ solid defenceman that can move the puck and solid goaltending. I'd say the B's have all the piece to the puzzle. The only clink in the armour may be lack of experience. Only time will tell.
I'm happy for ya if Boston win the Cup. I know you've been waiting long enough. But it's still early. |

Funny that you started this topic Andy, Just the other day I was asking my manager the same thing, he's a long tiime Bruin fan, and I'm a shameless arse kisser... Not really, but we were talking hockey the other day and I asked him the same question. I found it funny that he, like yourself, is an ardent Bruin fan, yet you both seem to be surprised at how well they are playing this year. I find that humility interesting as they have been quietly making some good moves and their draft choices are panning out nicely. Tim Thomas, in my opinion has always been a very good tender and this year he is really shiining. I particularly like the old time feel that they are getting back with Lucic, Chara and Thornton, toughness and skill, good stuff. If only Bergeron could stay healthy... Not sure about getting all the glory, but they are more than poised to make their best run since the 80's.(Did I mention I'm an Oilers fan..)
Hope they keep it up, as they are a fun team to watch. |

The thing about the B's is not only are they skilled, but they are tough as nails. Even if they slow down a bit, I can't imagine anyone wanting to play them in a 7 game series. They could really wear you down. |

ps. My jaw is still on the floor from Wheeler's goal last night. I'm a basketball player, it looked like someone making really sweet spin move in the post |

i dont know if they'll be able to drink from lord stanley's cup when its all over, but i mean they have a great team this year. they should atleast make it to the 3rd round if they keep this up. it'd be way nicer if they still had J.Thornton but they have playmakers like Savard, a good scorer in Kessel,Lucic, and Krecji(or however the hell you spell it) and the toughness of Chara,Lucic,Thornton,Ferrence.
they've come along way since the last 3-4 years.
EDIT: AND TIM THOMAS BETWEEN THE PIPES! cant believe i forgot him

I realllllllly hope that Bawston plays Montreal in the playoffs again. I don;t think the habs would even make it a 6 game series this time. The only team in the east that would have a chance at beating the Bruins would be Philly, in my opinion. They can score and play tough with equal effectiveness. NYR cant score enough, Montreal (right now at least..) is wildly inconsistent with their effort and Pitt and Wash would get pounded by the B's. If I had to guess right now, I'd say its going to be SJ vs Bos in the final. Although, as we all know, the favorites rarley seem to make due on early season predictions. Det and Pitt did make it last year and they were both favorites to make it but it doesn't really seem to work out like that most of the time. If the Leafs squeeze into 7th or 8th watch out...hell might have frozen over.
There is no "I" in team, but there is an "M" and an "E". |

agreed! What a sick goal, one on four. I think the Bruins do have a good shot at making it too the finals, unless the Thrashers start threatening(kidding). Their team is very skilled, and have gotten this far with out Patrice. Kessel is hot right now, as is most of the other players. They are the best team in the east hands down right now, but it is early. Hopefully injury's don't catch up to them, or Tim Thomas's unreal season starts slowing down. IF he can keep playing like this, i dont see a team in the east that could stop them. |
