$5 million for Briere - Buffalo has to accept it. This guy is custom built for the new NHL. I am interested in seeing what Gomez will get. Based on Briere it will have to be at least $5 million.

I think that's way too high. Sure he's not a bad player and his style is what the new NHL is about but he's a middle-class 1st liner or a good 2nd liner. To me that doesn't deserve 5 million bucks again, in the new NHL. Maybe if he was this good a few years ago it would have made more sense. But again for me this might just be the whole Buffalo factor.

I think 5 million is a bit high too. Did the arbitrators not get the memo that there is a salary cap in the nhl? Salaries were rolled back 24%. Briere gets $5 million, Sakic got $6 million. Hmmm. Who would you rather have?

Stoll, Avery, Kotalik, Ryder all avoided arbitration and signed deals.
