My prediction is that he does play more than 40 games, but that his scoring prowess leaves hime this year . . . I say about 55 games, 45 points.

The pressure of an expensive contract, the new pressure for him playing in a market like New York, the pressure of the media (again, new to him), and the inevitable drop off of production after a long term contract is signed. And a few little injuries. And new linemates that he likely won't click with right away. And not as much physical protection on this NY team as he had on Minne . . . did I miss anything?

If he is healthy, and plays 82 games look for 90+ points. As long as he isn't playing hurt. This guy is a star in the league.

Everything I hear is that Gaborik is %100. The surgery he had supposedly corrected the problem with his hip/groin and he should start camp at full health. id take him over gomez ANY day

There is no "I" in team, but there is an "M" and an "E".

Gaborik has never played 82 games, and of the last five seasons, here are his stats:
GP---G----A----PTS
65---18---22---40
65---38---28---66
48---30---27---57
77---42---41---83
17---13---10---23

So, one season over 80 points, and very good point totals for the year he played 48 games. But if I were a projecting man (and I assure you, I am), I would have to go with reality, history, and averages, not dreaming. That means that most probably, Gaborik will play anywhere from 55 to 75 games. At the very most, he may get in the high 80's with a practically full season.

I'm going with the low end, myself. Gaborik is super talented, but streaky. He says he's 100% healthy, but that's what they all say every year. I would be surprised if Gaborik ever gets over 90 points.

Thanks goodness I didn't pick him in last year's draft.

There are possibly the biggest number of ifs with Gaborik over any other player in the game today. You would have to think that the Rangers did their homework and had their DR's go over Gaborik with a fine toothed comb before giving him $35+ million.

It's also rumored that the injury needed surgery at least 2 years ago but the Minny Dr's were doing physio in place. There was also speculation that there were some "decisions" by the management and coaches to make it so he didn't come back as fast as he could have.

Here's the deal. I don't think anyone can deny that Gaborik has the skills to put up points in piles. Since the lock out, the only season he was anywhere near a full season was 42G,41A for 83 points. That was on the most defensively focused team in the league with only Demitra to support it.

Now, the difference with NYR is Tortorella is known to ride his horses and let his players be as creative as they want to be without hurting the team. Drury, although getting up there, can support Gabaorik a bit. Zherdev (if everything works out and he returns to the Rangers) is another guy with tons of skill but not much work ethic.

IF Gaborik and Zherdev click and put in an effort, they will be completely sick. However, it's just as likely that Gaborik puts in 30 points in 22 games and gets hurt.

HUGE ifs.

Alot of moving parts to the Gaborik health situation, if healthy, he'll be the king of the Big Apple, if he fails to net at least 60 points, he'll be run outta town. Simple...

It's just so hard to tell with Gaborik.

Another highly talented player, that just can't seem to be healthy. If the could stay healthy, for an entire season, I could easily see 90+ points, especially if he has a good linemate to play with.

But I just can not give an answer. He has so many plaguing injuries, that kick in off and on. Though, with a change in scenery perhaps these most recent injuries, may just "stay away" a little longer. Now that he's no longer with his coaching nemesis.

I say he's good. I think the injuries that plagued him are behind him. He looks happy and motivated in New York so far. Very much like he was in Minny for the first few season.

The rumors were that he didn't see eye to eye with Lemaire or with Risebrough. There were also reports that while in Minny, there were times where his injuries were not severe enough to keep him out of the line up by the Brass kept him out anyway.

He is known as a non-selfish players on the ice but a selfish player over all in regards to minutes and PP time and all that jazz. Tortorella is a coach known to ride his stars as much as they want to go. Looks like a match made in heaven and the Rangers have looked awesome in the first few games of the season.

I hope Gaborik doesn't stay healthy for the sake of my pool, but he is a good player some I'll toss him 70 points

The arena wall in chicago should be credited with a goal.

bla,bla,bla...Gaborik is a fragile player. Regardless of his past injuries, one good solid check and he's out. Prospal and Kotalik are the same. The Rangers look good now wait till mid season. No doubt he will put up numbers when he plays. I say Gaborik plays 62 games and that is being generous!
Gaborik reminds me of Demitra...produces when he's there but not always there.
