I have yet to get a chance to see him play, but 3 goals in first 3 games?
Can I believe the hype?

I haven't seen him play either, being a west coaster. Same problem as last season with Crosby and Ovechkin - had to rely on the TSN highlights. From what I am hearing he should do as good as both Crosby and Ovechkin. He is huge, especially when standing next to Sidney. I am excited about Ovechkin coming out West this season so we can see him play a bit.

Did you see his goal against the Devils the other night? It was huge! and he beat a pretty decent goalie on Marty Brodeur. Could this be the beginning of Pittsburgh's turnaround? Malkin is being compared to Lemieux for his size, strength and skills, and the Great One compared Sidney to himself. Add Fleury and Staal and this team could be dangerous in a few years. |

| I got to see him play at the world juniors in vancouver. He really is that amazing. Yah that goal against NJD was stellar. Even Brodeur commented in a post game interview that it was awesome. |

He's for real. He's already scored several great goals, including one in his first NHL game. He and Crosby on the same line should be dangerous!

This kid is gonna tear it up for a long time. I really hope Pittsburgh can keep their new core together for a while (Sid, Malkin, Whitney, Staal, Fleury)

| Yeah well they can stay together until they all automatically become UFA's and then they go to the highest bidder. They'll either all have to take pay cuts to stay together or they're gone. |

that is too bad. I think the UFA is set too low. Teams invest years developing a player and then when they come of age they can bail.

Yes, another 'con' for the salary cap era. It was put in place for all the right reasons (You hear that, New York???) but the effect it's going to have on the Pens in a few years is quite sad. Let's hope the players see what they have going for them, and make a gutsy choice to take a bit of a pay cut, and possibly keep together a team that will be talked about for years!

| he would be a standout if he didn't have have a big shadow to come out of.. playing with crosby woudl be an honor, but it would also be very hard for you to be noticed with such a focus on sid.. if he was playing on a team that didn't have a league star, or a rising star... then he would be noticed much more be the league and the crowds |

| Yeah, whenever a Pens game is on the announcers focus on Sid more than Malkin b/c Crosby's in the spotlight leading the NHL with points. A few nights ago I saw a game where Malkin got 3 points--a goal and an assist, and Crosby got one point on an assist. Although Malkin earned more points that night, the announcers only talked about Sid's one point and hardly mentioned Malkin's three. It's gotten to the point where Sid doesn't even have to outplay his teammates to get more attention than them. Don't get me wrong, Sid's an amazing player, but I think Malkin deserves a little more credit than the media gives him. |

Not going to disagree with anything you're saying, but remember: points don't always equal great play.
Malkin deserves more credit though, for sure!
