I guess somebody wrote a biography of Peter Pocklington and said that there was an agreement in place in the early 80's for the Oilers and the Leafs to switch teams 100%. In addition, Pocklington would pay $50 million. Guess who bailed on this one. Harold Ballard. Apparently, when asked why the deal didn't happen, Pocklington replied, "I don't know. He was a crazy old bugger." Next in line for "Crazy Old Bugger of the Year"....how about Burkie?

The Oil WILL make the playoffs in 2010.

I don't know, that stuff is before my time, but would the NHL have approved such a massive move? With the way they are now, it is amazing that they were even close to thinking about something like that.

the NHL would have LOVED to get Ballard out of TO. Anyway, anyhow...

It would have been a tragedy for the Oil but I am sure Ballard would have sold the team soon after cashing Pocklington's $50M cheque.

Or been shot by a justifiably Irate oil fan...

I think Pocklington would be the one who was shot, he wouldve traded away the Oilers dynasty haha
