srry that wuz my post I had to go with Chara because his slapshot is just incredible my second choice would have to be brett hull because of how he could shoot the puck and pick corners like nothing. |

My man, Zdeno Chara.
I've been a huge fan of his, since he landed in Ottawa. And, I always will be. Biased or not, he does have one hell of a slapper.
PS, he could have done without the nude photoshoot though. lol

Haha McCabe, best all time? I just died.. Hands down hometown boy Al MacInnis, the man put the puck through the boards, broke Jocelyn Thibault's finger and shattered numerous pans of glass.. thing is though, it was really accurate. As for today with active players, Souray has a laser .. Chara's is good and Lidstrom just has such accuracy with whos stick he puts it on its amazing. |

Wow this list is so wrong.
No Al MacInnis No Al Iafrete No Bobby Hull No Boom Boom Geofrion
And you have McCabe, Stevens, Weber, Ovechkin (they are all great, but we are talking best SLAP shots ALL time)
Anyway, Al MacInnis had the hardest with a wooden stick and Brett Hull had the best one timer. Boom Boom and Bobby Hull were great ambassadors in the slap shot. Chara has the hardest shot today. |

How young are you people? Most of the players on the list only started playing in the NHL after 2000 and we are talking about an all time list. Puh-lease. Start with the list Willus had and go from there. This is an all time list not a list of right now or in the last 9 years. |

Souray I think...his shot seems pretty accurate and really hard. Chara's shot is really hard, but I'm not sure if its really accurate. |

For me, it was Al MacInnis. Awesome . . . wooden stick. Pinpoint accuracy. Hardest shot. And . . . he was an all around great player.
You young guys - people hit the goddamn ice - I mean, like a bomb or gunshot went off - when MacInnis wound up and the shot went a bit high. He had scary velocity on his slapshot, and he scored most of his goals from the dot, or around the circle inside the offensive zone - it has to be a good shot from there.
honourable mention to Brett Hull, but again - he couldn't compete with the velocity that MacInnis had, and he took a lot of shots from 15 feet away.
Can't mention names I didn't grow up watching.

I can't believe you didn't include Al MacInnis. Didn't he break Grant Fuhr's ribs or something with his shot? Scott Stevens shouldn't be on the list for hardest shot in my opinion, but he wins for hardest hitter. No question. He has his own top 10 for his body checks! |

Tiller....the wooden stick had nothing to do with it. But i will admit, the "dirty skullett" definitely did! |

The player who wins the sklll competition during the all star game is usually clocked around 100 mph.
Bobby Hull was clocked at 120 mph, not even close. |

Chara now has the NHL's hardest shot. Beat Iafrate's record this year in the skills contest. Not sure if its the most accurate, but for current NHL players he is definitely my top pick. As for all time combining power and accuracy I'd have to say MacInnis, it is what he was known for. |

Dennis and Bobby Hull (Brett's uncle and father, it's in the blood) - 120+ wooden stick
Dennis Hull's shot was harder than brother Bobby. The difference according to comments i heard by the two was that Dennis was a little wild while Bobby was much more accurate. The 120+mph slapshot beats the current 108mph by the new guys with the composite sticks. MacInnis and Iafrate were never in the Hull class even in their prime. |

Just for the fantastic novelty of the shot, Owen "Rollin'" Nolan when he pointed to the top corner on Hasek in an All Star game and actually blew it by him, luv that ! I also remember Al Iafrate holding the title of the fastest for a while?? Just reading all the posts above, and got to say, maybe we should click on no posts from anonymous peeps? |

Bobby Hull should have been the first one added to this list, its hard to tell all time because of new sticks and blade rules |

Steven Stamkos deserves a spot here. Yeah, he's still a young player, but currently, he has the sickest shot in the NHL. Better than Ovechkin and Crosby. |

Al MacInnis late 106's mph Al Iafrete 108ish mph Bobby Hull 119ish mph
The best current, but do not even compete with the all time bests...
Sheldon Souray early 106's mph Zdeno Chara 105ish mph |
