I'm looking for some advice on who I should trade and whom I should trade for. My pool points system is simple: 1G=1pt, 1A=1pt, no other stats. I can have a max of two trades.
Here's my team: Ovechkin, Alfredsson, Setoguchi, Ray Whitney, Gionta, Hartnell
Here's who is available: Penner, Vaclav Prospal, Stephen Stamkos, Brad Richards, Wojtek Wolski, Ales Kotalik, Dustin Brown, Justin Williams, Andrew Brunette, Brenden Morrow.
I'm leaning towards Prospal and Stamkos, but Brown and Williams are on my shortlist.

Hartnell is the only guy on your list that I would think about dropping, maybe Gionta but I doubt it. So for one player, based on your list of who is available, I take Brendan Morrow with little thought. He's health and playing great. He is easily the best player for Dallas and plays in all situations meaning he gets tons of ice.
Brunette would by my #2. Ice with Havlat as well as the fact that Minny has no one else to score, he also gets a lot of ice.
I woudl avoid Prospal, Kotalik, and Penner. Too streaky, not as productive as the players you already have, and Kotalik/Prospal are only good if Gaborik stays healthy.
The rest are decent picks but not over the player you already have. |

I wouldn't wait a second longer to make the swap of Hartnell for Morrow! Do it now!!!
As for the rest, if you're only allowed two trades, save the other one in case of a serious injury to one of your others. If a guy like Whitney, Setoguchi or Gionta goes down, you'll wanna plug someone in for some points. If it's Alfie or even worse, Ovie, you're done, assuming these are your only players? You didn't really explain your pool other than max two trades though? Looking at some quality that's available, i wonder how many guys are in this pool? Do you only take 6 each? If so, how many teams to have a guy like Morrow undrafted??? He was going top 40-50 in most drafts i looked at! |

Alex116 some more info about my pool: There are 9 other teams. Each team has 7F, 3D, 1G. The rest of my team consists of Boyle, Campbell, Scott Niedermayer, and Evgeni Nabokov (2pts for win, 1extra point for shutout). The trade deadline is Jan 1. It's not a complicated pool, its an excuse for guys to get together on a weekend, and a way to have bragging rights...
I'm wary about Morrow, last year I took him and he got injured 18 games in, didn't return. Thanks for the advice, I was looking for 1 early trade, and, like Alex116 suggested, saving 1 trade til as late as possible. |

I would really go for Stamkos and drop Hartnell. And I would wait for another trade in case somebody gets injured. Morrow would also be a great pickup.
I would drop Ray Whitney next. |

Id say make a play for Stamkos as well. He's the real deal and has gotten progressively better every game in his young career, and already leads his team in goals by a healthy margin. Morrow is a decent pick, too, but I feel Stamkos is more of a PP threat, which makes the difference over an 82 game season. If you have to drop someone, get Hartnell out of there as other posters have suggested. |

Cool....i hope you didn't get the wrong vibe by my reply, by no means was i trying to diss you or your pool. Thanks for the info on it, i'm in a couple which are very similar, a couple others, more serious (bigger groups, bigger bucks, more trades, etc). I'm still a little surprised that with 70 fwds taken that Morrow, Stamkos and even Richards were not taken? Either way, i'd def capitalize on one of them now and lose Hartnell. I too like Stamkos and would consider him but i wouldn't hesitate to take Morrow because of one injury. Anyone can get hurt, it's something we can't predict.....unless you're talking about Sami Salo?
To give you an idea of what i mean about Morrow / Stamkos not going, i have two "hockey pool guide" books, The Score sports forcaster predicted Morrow to be 44th overall in scoring and The Hockey News Ultimate Fantasy Pool Guide had him 50th. On Stamkos, they had him 108th and 42nd respectively. I know, it's only opinions of "so called experts", but these guys are close more often than not considering the number of guys they have to predict! Both Morrow and Stamkos went in the top 60 of all the drafts i was in if i recall correctly....? |

Proud to say, I got Stamkos in the 7th round, and our pool has 14 guys in it. XD In my opinion, I'd take Stamkos over any of the guys on that list, just becasue of how offensive-centred tampa is this year, with him, Malone, Vinny, and St. Louis all producing fairly well. Good luck. |

If this draft is just for this year...i would drop Hartnall + Setoguchi and pick up Stamkos + Richards.
( Richards wants team Canada and he's playing like it) I got Richards really really late in our draft...what a blessing!

Wow, Stamkos in round 7 with a 14 team league is awesome! Well done, although, i'm not sure i'd have left him THAT late myself! If i were you, i'd have jumped the gun in the 5th or at the latest, the 6th! Good for you for getting him though!
