hey i was watching the leaf game and when gustavsson didnt go in the net for the second period i was thinking oh no. apparently hes gonna be fine, but what im wondering about does macdonald get the shutout or gustavsson, macdonald played more of the game then gustavsson so i think macdonald should but its recorded as gustavsson getting the shutout, just wondering who u think deserves the shutout.

Apparently they both do, I was wondering the same thing myself but on the Fan 590 in Toronto this morning they said the league changed the scoring system so that they are both credited with a shutout.

There's a lot of dirty old occ's around thats the problem

Yep, they both share the win and the shutout. I was unsure of that myself until I too, tuned into the Fan 590.

Apparently Gustavsson is going to fine and Ron Wilson didnt want to take even the smallest chance that something might happen. Jonas had an elevated heart rate after the first period but it did settle down on its own. He went to the hospital anyways.

He is getting checked out by the doctors and I would imagine will be cleared to play in a couple days. I just pray im right and this condition doesnt force him into early retirement, that would be a huge blow to the leafs goaltending picture and ruin a promising young career.

Def would suck to see a guy's career affected by a problem like this, but hopefully, regardless of his playing career, he has no problems with his overall health due to this. Scares me into reminders of guys like Cherepanov and even moreso (because it sounds similar) Jiri Fischer. Fortunately for Fischer, he's still alive today.

I'm just waiting for someone to make a joke about Euro's not having heart.

So do the Leafs go with Mcdonald now? Is he the next best? Can the Leafs season honestly get any worse. Actually, they trade away what could possibly be the number one pick to a team in there division... And now there "star" goalie is out again. And i thought it sucked being a Thrashers fan...

Trust me, it sucks more to be a thrashers fan.

Gustavsson is apparently going to have the same proceadure he had in training camp 1 more time. He will most likley be gone a couple weeks while he waits for the scab from the incision heal.

Toskala is probably still a few days to a week away so Joey MacDonald will start tonight against Colombus and will also probably start on Saturday. James Reimer is hurt so im not sure who the leafs will call up to backup MacDonald. Probably Adam Munro or Engelage.

Why does it suck being a thrashers fan? Were 5th in the east, gunning for the best season we've ever had. We have a STAR player (something Toronto has been lacking, and Kessel is not at that level yet). We have draft picks, we have a pretty good young goalie, one of the best new defenceman in the league (Bogosian), and even better, we take players other teams give up on and turn them i into solid players (Peverly, Max Afinogenov, Antropov). Mix in some youth like Bryan Little, and Evander Kane, im excited. What do leaf fans have to be excited for? The number one draft pic....

Oops. You guys have goalie problems up the shooter, take crap penalties then cant kill them off, cant score goals to save your life, have terrible defense that couldnt spell "pick up a man" nevertheless actually accomplish it. Ian White as your best defense?? Ouch that hurts. Two words that sum up the leafs. Jason Blake. He over achieved ONCE, and he gets 4 million a year?? You can say all you want about Burke, but unless you constantly watch TSN, you have to figure the guy is over rated. He was GIVEN the cup in Anahiem. Yes he got Pronger, but Pronger wanted out. It was easy.

The thing is, I wish the leafs were good. They do have the biggest fan base no doubt. All I'm saying is i feel bad for you. First time ever i brag about being a Thrasher fan.

Way to give em heck thrasher. I personally like the Atlanta thrashers this year and figure if they didn't play in the division they are in would recieve way more attention for a good up and coming team with most of the pieces to make a playoff drive. TO just have the fan base to make a playoff drive. Hope Gustavsson's heart good health, but if he retired now he would only miss a disapointing season in TO land.

And the Leaf's win the #1 draft LOL

Yeah guys, give the Thrashers their due, although maybe leave it out of a discussion on Gustavsson's heart rhythms . . .

I don't know about this Monster heart. Starting to worry me, but . . . we'lll see, could just be a tiny issue and we never hear about it again. I truly hope so, because it has been one trying season so far for Toronto goalies, and it looks like we really, really need this Gustavsson kid to play more than the 20 games I predicted.

Well, as a euro, he does have heart . . . he just can't keep a beat.

Dude, seriously talk to me when your team wins a playoff round. If it ever happens. They are playing well right now, but seriously, you are comparing the Atlanta Thrashers to the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Kovalchuck could very well leave your team in his dust and not only that, Atlanta might not even be a team in 5 years. Who are you going to cheer for then?

Ugliest uniforms in the league, terrible attendance, and they have only made the playoffs once and got swept. I dont care if you cheer for atlanta, go ahead i wont knock you for that, i just dont think you can compare atlanta to toronto.

Kessel is a superstar, Burke was not handed the cup i dont care what anyone says, much more went into finishing off that team than meets the eye (nobody just hands you chris pronger....) and i dont want you to 'feel bad' for me. Leaf fans dont need sympathy.

anyways, i dont want to get into a pissing match with you, your opinion is valid so its all good.

They are in the same league are they not?? They play against eachother do they not? How are the Leafs that much "superior" than my Thrashers? No we have not won a playolff round. Thrashers are ten years into the league. When they came into the league, Steve Staois was their captain, at LEFT WING. Being an expansion team when there is already 24+ teams cannot be easy, and remember, Columbus just made playoffs last year too.

I dont understand why you got upset when i compared two NHL teams. And considering Atlanta is ahead of them, again your almighty leafs just dont seem to be that much better. Yes you may have more cups and history, but theres nothing we can do about that is there?

And to answer if Kovalchuk leaves, i'll most likely cheer for the team he goes too. My loyalty is more to him than any team. Now im hoping he will never go to the Leafs, because i dont want to become a snobbish arrogant fan who believes my team is that much better than every other just because they are called the Maple Leafs.

Ugliest uniforms in the league??
you better not be talking about the baby blue former alternates, now regular home jerseys. I know i'm completely biased but those are beautiful.

My opinions on Burke are set, and i know how unfair that is but i just dont believe he is this messiah for the leafs. And Kessel....
I dont believe Kesel is a superstar yet. I have no doubt that he will become one, but is he there yet? I don't watch Leaf games very often, because we have many tall buildings in my city and im afraid after watching Jason Blake skate around the ice for 4 mil a year, i may go and jump off one. I just don't think Kessel has proved himself wihout Savard YET. At the end of the season i think we will see.

Anyway, i'm sorry you think this is a pissing match, i think it's just friendly banter. If you have something else to say, please start a new thread so we can continue this, i would love to hear some more opinions.
