Usa was by far the better team...but great effort by Canada. It sucks but we will get it back next year. This team was not really that talented aside from Eberle..goaltending was very weak and not much puck support. The young age showed as the tournament went on. Still proud of our boys, good effort.

Well said. I've been busy this year and didn't follow it as much as past years so i didn't get a chance to really get to know our team like i have in years past. I was actually happy when USA beat Sweden and thought that we stood a better chance at beating them. I saw the NY's eve game (well, from the end of the 1st) and just thought that with an 0 fer 6 pp, we'd get by them much easier second time around (assuming we'd get a few ppg's this time). I did not realize just how quick the US team was! Man they had speed!
Mix in T. Hamonic's injury and subpar goaltending and voila, silver medal. My buddy asked me last night about our team and the goaltending in particular. I told him that this year we seemed to lack that #1 guy who could almost guarantee us a win when needed. We've had that in the past. Again, don't know these kids all that well, but our goalies seemed a little weaker this time around? Am i wrong?
All in all, and exciting game, congrats to the USA on a well deserved gold medal (let's not forget they were a few mins shy of a bye to a somewhat easy semi).
Regardless, gotta be proud of our guys! |

It seems our side was under rated, even by me. I really didn't expect us to finish any higher than fourth. Bodes well for the future of US hockey.
Did you hear about the retired proctologist? He spent 40 years saying "what's a place like this doing in a girl like you?" |

Anyone who watched any substantial amount of this tourney who said this team was not talented outside of Eberle must have been paying more attention to the other team.
Taylor Hall is still young and made his share of mistakes, but his skill level, for a 17 yr old kid, is wicked.
Alex Petroanglo is a NHL ready defensemen.
Braden Schenn is a gamer and in my opinion a better player than his bro.
Kadri disappointed me and he has a lot of growing up to do(hated the throat slash gesture) but his hands are made of gold and the kid competes.
There were at the least 10-12 future NHL'ers on that Canadian Squad. Give your head a shake.
Now, I agree the Americans were a better TEAM. Overall, the difference was speed and that the American capitalized on every Canadian mistake.

I got a special thrill because it was Carlson who scored the game winner as I had seen him play in the AHL (Hershey). The kid will turn just 20 this weekend and now has both a Caulder Cup and a WJ gold medal on his resume. Any speculation as to how long he will stay with the parent club?

Beans, we've agreed before, but NEVER as much as this! I actually had to scroll back up and check if it were you or me who wrote that!
Hall impressed for a young kid. Will he be the next big thing? Prob not, but he could be an instant NHLer and have some success like Tavares, Duchesne and Kane are having?
Pietrangelo was a stud at that leven and it's clear he'll be back in the NHL soon. However, the Blues just assigned him to Niagara Falls of the OHL? This means he's not eligible to be brought back up does it not? If so, i'm a little surprised at this? I'd have thought they'd have brought him back up and let him play, learn and mature during the second half? They're currently 13 points out of a playoff spot but maybe they have plans for a second half turnaround similar to the one they pulled off last year?
Kadri, you nailed him! He's got some growing up to do and hopefully he does just that. The skill he's got is fun to watch! I did find he held onto the puck too long too often.
In all, you said it correctly when you said USA was the better TEAM. What's scray is i hear they have 12-13 guys who could be back next year when they host the tournament! Yikes! While we always seem to have more and more guys coming in to take places, that's gotta make them the favorites?
As much as we have to like seeing the success of some of the guys who make the NHL, it could have been very different if we had Duchesne and Kane available? Both were mild surprises to stick with their NHL clubs this year. Throw in a healthy Cody Hodgson, we'd almost certainly be wearing gold yet again! |

Well it seems they capitalized on enough mistakes to win the game....our players did have talent , but not enough compared to the previous canadian junior teams....this team showed alot of immaturity...and made bad decisions with the puck many many times. I seen Hall throw the puck blindly into his own slot at least 3 times....yes he will eventually be a good player but he has alot of growing to do....imo they were lucky to have finished second...but I am glad they got at least that. |

It seems the story that circulated locally of Carlson returning to the Capitals after the WJC were off the mark - as of today he is on the Hershey Bears roster.

Sorry beans, i havent been able to follow the world juniours much, What is the throaght gesture your talking about? Do you have a link to a video? I tried searching youtube but couldnt find anything. |

Kadri skated towards the US penalty box (where a US player currently sat,) and made a gesture of "i'm going to slice your throat."

Classy kid. He needs to grow up more than a little in my opinion. I have heard various reports really not saying good things about him and that people were not really impressed with him in the tourney overall.
Why do hands so magical have to attached to such a dork??? |

The kid does have good hands, no argument there from me.
When you are representing your Country, you need to show more class than what Kadri displayed during the Canada - Switzerland game.
I can understand to an extent, that during such an important tournament (for these kids) that emotions can run high, but you should never display such a gesture... especially not while representing your Country, on home ice. Show some class.
But at the end of the day, Kadri has a lot of maturing to do. Especially since I believe, all this was really about is that Neidereitter (#22, Switzerland) was just outworking Kadri in every situation the two faced togeather. And Kadri didn't like it.
Kadri kept attempting to intimidate (outside of this incident, aswell) Neiderietter, yet Neids did not fall in to it. Simply giving it back to Kadri (Cleanly, with class) and this just pushed Kadri to the edge I think, to the point of uncontrolled frustration.
But at the end of the day, Neidereitter could be the highest drafted Swiss player in to the NHL, ever. And may one day, perhaps, be the top forward player the Swiss have ever had at the NHL level. I believe he's that good, and will be that much better as he develops. I was impressed by this guy. More so than Kadri, that's for certain.
Is Kadri the first to do this? Nope! Is he the last? Not likely.
Overall, I don't see it as a 'huge' deal, but I would appreciate more discipline and maturity when representing the Red & White.
