They are different players... I'd say that Jason brings a more all around game to the table and helps make his team better more than Kovalchuk does, who is by far the better goal scorer... Kovalchuk is just too 1-dimensional if you ask me (not that there arent a ton of teams that would want that dimension!) |

Nashvillepreds: Both Kovalchuk and Spezza are inconsistent this year, but Spezza seems to be around the same point total every year (higher than Kovalchuk) While Kovalchuk's points seem to differ every year.

Posted - 03/30/2008 : 16:22:21 You ask.
Ok, and also, what you said is B.S. Point me out one point in the season wchich Spezza was on pace for 117 points. After 10 games he was on pace for about 106, but I can't seem to find anything about 117. It might just be my mistake but I'd like to know where he was on pace for 117. Kovalchuk was on pace for about 72, that's the most I can find. My mistake, I admit it and I'm sorry.
My answer to that is from the start of the season to Dec 27 Spezza had 48 pts in those 31 games which at that pace he would have ended the season with 126 pts, So it was a bigger pace than the 117 which helps prove my point more.He wasn't consistant enough to do it. I would say we both got some of our facts off a little bit. I'm also sorry for jumping all over you.Lets just say you like Spezza more than Kovalchuk in this poll. Thats fair to me. Me i'm undecided on this one.All i was trying to prove is Kovalchuk has been just as consistant as spezza has been this yr and the stats point that way. Sure kovalchuk may have went some games where he got no goals and a few games where he got multiply goals. Consistancy is not based on a few bad games in a row ,It's based on what a player did all yr or on a bigger scale all his carreer. later

Good enough for you? Wow, I'm a huge liar.
Kovalchuk was injured on the 30th, AFTER he ended his goalless streak. Mytor if you don't Believe me, he's the log:
"The Thrashers lost star Ilya Kovalchuk to a knee injury while ending a five-game losing streak in Wednesday night's 4-1 victory over the Penguins. How badly hurt Atlanta's leading scorer was couldn't immediately be determined."
If you still don't belive me, here's the link:
http://www.nhl.com/nhl/app?service=page&page=Recap&gameNumber=765&season=20072008&gameType=2
Spezza, after he returned from injury, regained his scoring touch two games later, with a three point night. He went on to average 1.21 PPG after his injury. That is the truth mytor, instead of calling me out, do the math.

Actually Kovalchuk did have this problem. Remember that knee injury he got from the hit by Ruutu? He only missed one game but i'm pretty sure that 3 week period you speak of came right after that point. So even though he was playing i'm pretty confident that he wasn't 100%. If i remember correctly he was wearing a brace while he played.
PS. Kovalchuk is a pretty awsome passer as well. If he was passing to Heatley or Alfie instead of Todd White or some other crapster, i'm sure he'd be up there in assists too. |

spezza consistent,Kovalchuk isn't. do you just go around just making things up and than putting them down. this quote is just making up statments without backing them up and hoping no one calls you out on it. in six season kovy has had 4 with 40 or more goals, 1st yr 29 2nd yr 38 the next 4yrs 41+ . if that isn't consistent i don't know what is.

Wow, I laughed when I read your last post. Are you kidding, Kovalchuk has no consistency at all. Remember at the beginning of the season, when Kovie was on pace for what, 75 goals? And remember three weeks later, when he still had the same goal total?
Kovalchuk is a great player, I'm not denying that but he only plays when he wants to. He has very little hart and I think if he tried harder, he could easily be one of the top ten players in league, where I think Spezza is now.
Also, one more thing I'd like to bring up, spezza can pass
Ellis or Mason?
Go Preds Go!
Well first lets pretend what your saying is true. You bring up the beginning of the season when when Kovie was on pace for what, 75 goals but never mention that Spezza at that time was on a 117 pt clip. Kovie slips to 50 goals while Spezza slips to 89 pts but only Kovie is being inconsistent not Spezza. Well with one eye open i can easily see that both are being inconsistent under those early season expections. Now about my first line where i say lets pretend.I said lets pretent because what you said was just something you made up and I'm calling you out on this statment Why do you lie and make up stuff about a player that isn't true. The statment you made. Your satament below. [-----Remember at the beginning of the season, when Kovie was on pace for what, 75 goals? And remember three weeks later, when he still had the same goal total?----] is totally false. While he was on pace for around in the 70's please try to show me where he three weeks later had the same amount of goals. You can't .Thats just B.S you made up. As a matter of fact the longest stretch the Kovie went without scoring a goal happened at the end ofJjan. A 5 game stretch . Thats a far cry from your fabracated 3 weeks now isn't it.If your going to state things please stick to the facts and the truth because we don't need people making stuff up to try to benefit and improve there opinion.
PS-- To the Admin and Mods. I hope this isn't what you call attacking another person on this board. If it is i will appojize. I look at it as calling out a fellow person who is providing false statments to benefit his position. All i ask is when stating facts, keep them true.If a person is just going to make up stuff then i hope we have a right to call that person out without getting in trouble.

Kovalchuk is a top 10 player in the league.
So Henrik Zetterberg is also inconsitent based on your argument? He was projected to be a 160 point scorer at the same time Kovy was projected to be a 75 goal scorer. Using early projections to derive expectations are ridiculous way of pointing out a player is inconsistent. Try again to convince all of us that Kovy is inconsistent. |

I actually do agree that Kovie is inconsistent sometimes. Spezza can be consistent at times but can also fade off.

Posted - 03/29/2008 : 04:54:53 Really hard to compare these two players. They are total opposites of each other. One is a goal scorer while the other is an assist man.Two different type of skills but both in the top teir of those levels.I think the only way to compare these two is on the bases of what type of player would most fit your team's need.
