This is the story of John Adams, If you look on the cup picture for 1969-70 you will see J ADAMS, below is I BOLDIREV, he also did not play a game that season...

Vladimir Konstantinov won the cup in Detroit in 1997 and played 77 games that year, these two players never played a game in the NHL prior to winning the cup...

Vladimir Konstantinov got his name on the cup in 1998 also, and never played a game that year...but he had played for 6 years previously...
