We've touched on this a bit recently but haven't asked the question directly, so I thought I'd throw it out there.

What was the most exciting 5 year period for you in the last 40 years, and why?

86-90 has to be up there. It had the highest concentration on offensive talent the league has seen I think.
Gretzky
Lemieux
Stastny
Savard
Hawerchuk
Kurri
Yzerman
Goulet
Mullen
Hull
Messier
Etc...
Pretty amazing having them all at the same time.

Yeah, I guess Trottier is close to perfection too.

I watch all the vintage games on the NHL network so I've seen a lot of the '80's and '70's games.

Regardless, my favorite time of hockey was 88-93. No Gretzky on the Oilers, Mario was flying, so many good players in the league. There was much better parity in the league from the last expansion and it was a good mix of offense and defense. Right after the high flying early and mid 80's and just before the dead puck mid to late 90's.

Sorry I can not conform to those 5 year spans. I gotta be an individual and make my own.

Wayne or Bobby?? How about both!!!

71-75. It's the only time in history there has been a perfect hockey player.

I only started watching in the 80's so I don't have an opinion pre Gretzky/dead puck era days.

I'd say '86-'90
