Regardless, my favorite time of hockey was 88-93. No Gretzky on the Oilers, Mario was flying, so many good players in the league. There was much better parity in the league from the last expansion and it was a good mix of offense and defense. Right after the high flying early and mid 80's and just before the dead puck mid to late 90's.

86-90 has to be up there. It had the highest concentration on offensive talent the league has seen I think. Gretzky Lemieux Stastny Savard Hawerchuk Kurri Yzerman Goulet Mullen Hull Messier Etc... Pretty amazing having them all at the same time.
