With Nagy gone, there should be plenty of dollars available to lock up Doan long term. I see him commanding $4.5 per, over 4 years maybe. That would bring him to 34. Good move by the Yotes. Doan is a solid leader and definitely someone you want around when in a rebuilding phase.

Ya I saw it on TSN. Its worth about 4.8 Million a year and as Semin mentioned, 5 years, 24 million.

$4.6 per over 5 years is the final number. This singing will go a long way in determining what the Oilers do with Ryan Smyth. I read that in the summer, Smyth offered to sign long term for $5 million per and the Oilers thought it was too much. I think the Oilers are in for at least $5.5 per if they want to keep him, and that is with the home town discount. Time for Kevin Lowe to make some major decisions, especially given the fact that the Oil are not in the playoff picture.
