Ok, Alex normally does this every year, but I am going to throw it out this season. Your picks must be in before puck drop of the playoffs. Your pick must be the team that wins the series and the number of games the series will last.
1/2 of the field will be cut each round, tie breaker will be closest number of games without going over.
Change
Difference between total games of all series will be tie breaker regardless of over or under.
For example:
Player #1, #2, and #3 all pick 5 winners.
Player#1 picks all series combined to end in 46 games. Player#2 picks all series combined to end in 42 games. Player #3 picks all series combined to end in 43 games.
All series end in 43 games.
The order would be Player #3 - Dead On Player #2 - Off by 1 game Player #1 - Off by 3 games.
If the cut off line is tied in both winners picked and games, both will move on.
East
Washington vs Montreal New Jersey vs Philadelphia Buffalo vs Boston Pittsburgh vs Ottawa
West San Jose vs Colorado Chicago vs Nashville Vancouver vs Los Angeles Phoenix vs Detroit
Good Luck!

Wow, so far everyone is staying pretty close to the final season rankings and no one is giving any love to Phoenix. Even though they split the season series and goal differntial, PP and PK, and shots were virtually identical.
Time will tell. I know I am waiting to see a little more info on the match ups.
The first game is 7pm (eastern) on Wednesday. If your picks are not posted before that time, you are out. The time stamp on the posts I see is appears to be Pacific.
7pm Eastern is 4 pm Pacific. Time stamp on your post must be before that! |

East Habs in 7 why both teams have fire power but Halak will play better then Jose Devils in 5 marty will be hot sabers in 4 if miller is on his game the will win for the bruins to win this series rask will have to be hot. pens in 5 the defending cup winners will be on fire and battle hard this is the third time they face the sens in the playoffs since 200/2009.
West Avs in 7 Naby has not been a great playoff goalie over the years and see it agian even with heatley they wont make it far. Hawks in 7 this series will be who has the hot goalie La in 7 Captian luo will have to be on his game if the canucks plan to make it into the next round, not like last time 8-3 lost to the kings. Yotes in 7 red wings are playing howard will bring them far. But yotes have suprised us this year makeing it into the playoffs. |

East: Top 4 seeds advance, closest series might be Buffalo/Philly (goaltending matchup is too uneven though).
West: Detroit as an upset (is it an upset?), with San Jose easily beating Colorado, Chicago embarassing Nashville and LA taking the Canucks the distance but just falling short due to lack of experience.
Which leaves: East Wash vs. Buffalo Pitt vs. NJ
I like Washington to roll over buffalo, and Jersey and Pitt to have a 7 game bloodbath. I think Marty knows its his last time to shine, and I like Jersey pulling it out in a whale of a series.
West: SJ vs. Detroit Chicago vs. Vancouver
A couple of familiar playoff opponents. Once again I see Detroit's experience getting it done vs the perennial choke-jobs from San Jose. Chicago series completely dependent on Luongo. But I see Chicago adding Hossa and I don't see them losing, I don't care who their goalie is. Chicago in 6.
East Finals NJ vs Washington Washington's turn to win the east. They win in 6, despite Brodeur's best efforts.
West Finals Detroit vs Chicago Rematch of last year. Unfortunately, I think Howard is playing better than Osgoode did last year, and Niemi is a step down from Khabibulin. Detroit wins an ugly, brutal 7 game series.
Stanley Cup Finals: Wash vs. Detroit
I'd like to say Detroit's experience will get it done vs. either Theodore or Varlamov, but I think the path to the cup through the west is brutal, and they aren't getting younger as a team. Wash wins in 6.

EAST
Washington vs Montreal - the Caps sweep New Jersey vs Philly - the Flyers come in hot and surprise in 6 games Buffalo vs Boston - the Sabres walk over the ailing Bruins in 5 games Pittsburgh vs Ottawa - Crosby dominates and the Sens goalie is exposed for a sham, 5 games
WEST
San Jose vs Colorado - tempting to pick an upset, but I'll go with a shaky 6 games for the Sharks Chicago vs Nashville - another tempting upset . . . but the Hawks squeeze through in 7 Vancouver vs Los Angeles - don't believe the hype from Hollywood, the Canucks are way too strong and they'll do it in 5 Phoenix vs Detroit - Phoenix pushes hard, but the perrenial finalist Wings predictably "upset" the 'Yotes, in 6

Im surprised most people think the Canucks are going to walk all over LA...Seeing as how they only finished with 2 more points.
Luongo been mediocre this season. If LA can contain the twins, Vancouver is screwed. Thats a big "if" though. But it can be done.
"What about the young inexperienced team factor though?" Look at Chicago last year. |

I have no series being a clean sweep. The closest one, of all match-ups for me would be Washington sweeping the Canadiens, which I don't even believe is going to happen.
I have the Caps in 5. I believe Montreal will win game 3 (1st home game of series), and back down hill from there sadly (for the Habs).
Should be exciting times!

I think easternteams need to be aware of Buffalo. I would consider them a sleeping giant at this point, and Miller is too good to let the first round slip away. Have faith in the Canucks, Luongo barely has to play well for this team to win, and there is no doubt in my mind that he will step up and be the most dominant goalie in the west. |

Good points, but really i don't see many picking the Canucks to "walk all over LA"? I see mostly "Canucks in 6" with as many thinking LA will win as there is thinking Canucks in 5! Mix in a few Canucks in 7's and i'd say there's very few thinking the way you seem to be reading it?
As for the series itself, road performance is the main concern from my end along with the obvious inj's on an already thin d. I'm not as worried about Luongo, while he may not be at his best, he's gonna be better than the guy at the other end of the night more often than not and as the second highest scoring team in the league, that's not such a bad thing!
Sticking with "Nucks in 6" although i'm in a bracket pool where i picked them in 5. All things considered, even a 4 game sweep can be misleading. A team could win it's series in 4 straight 1-0 games and it may look dominating on paper but in reality it'd have been one heckuva series! |
