Jacques Demers signed himself to a pro contract in '79 when his team didn't have enough players to play, he didn't actually touch the ice, but he was technically signed as any other player would be.

That may be true but he did not play...was that when he was coaching in the WHA or NHL?

23.) Name the last individual that served as an NHL Head Coach while still playing with his team ?

I actually had Charlie Burns 1969/70...

But you found someone more recent, Marshall Johnston is correct...

24.) Who was the last NHL goalie to retire that also played in the WHA ?

Mike Liut played for the WHA Cincinnati Stingers and retired from the NHL after the 1991-92 season.

25.) Name the NHL teams that won two consecutive Stanley Cups with different Captains, and who were the Captains ?

I saw the quote below at a site about Lou Nanne http://www.northstarshockey.com/lousoo.htm

"Late in the 1977-78 season, he was asked to take the helm of the organizatoin to became the first player-coach-general manager the league has ever known."

He played in 26 games in 77/78 but I haven't been able to confirm whether he actually played and coached at the same time.

Anyway, that was a great question!

Good one with Lou Nanne, I will have to check into it further, but it does sound like he was a player and head coach...

Interesting... From the stats i've seen, I can only find Ted Harris and Andre Beaulieu being Minnesota's coaches in 77/78. It would be very interesting if it was true about Lou thou! ;) .. especially since it's so recent (relatively! ;)).

According to the NHL Official Guide and Record book they have Ted Harris, Andre Beaulieu, and Lou Nanne listed as Head Coaches in the 1977/78 season for Minnesota...

I'm wondering if maybe he retired as a player in the early part of that year, and then became their coach. Maybe we have to call the Soo and ask for Lou!

There isn't great info on this player-coach topic in general actually. We should write a book about it!

You are right, I find it hard to picture a coach in full equipment calling out the lines in the NHL, I read about Charlie Burns some where and I can not find the article, I will keep looking...

Tough one Puck. But I wouldn't expect anything less from you.

Is it Mr. Ken Hodge, born in Burmingham, England. He scored 50 with the 73-74 Bruins.
