A good choice for now and to me really the only choice right now. When he talks with the media he comes off very intelligent and has a really good feel for what's going on in the dressing room. Once he starts to dwindle and becomes a third line player, say a year or two from now, the team will have to re-evaluate the captaincy. Horc is revitalized this year and who knows he could stay captain until his contract is up.
Whitney would have been a good choice too IMO but it may be too soon for that.
Playoffs or to be an actual Stanley Cup contender...I would say at least 2 or 3 seasons away and that would probably have nothing to do with Horcoff being captain.
