Poll Question:
What do you think of Pronger's supposed offer to sell the puck he snagged from Game 2 of the Finals (Chicago won 2-1) and then donate the proceeds to charity?

*Poll edited.

Choices:

He''''s still an idiot.
Very noble.. donating someone else''''s money to charity!
He should match the winning bid and donate it all.
This is redemption for taking the puck in the first place.
Who cares what he does with it.

Most of you probably recall Pronger's puck stealing antics in the Finals last season.

According to TSN, he's now offering to sell the puck on eBay and donate the proceeds to the charity of the winner's choice.

Apparently, "Harry Caray's" a Chicago restaurant has offered $50,000 to Pronger for the puck.

What are your thoughts?

yep, Spade - you need a "who cares what Pronger does with meaningless pucks" category.

What is the puck that Pronger took from game2 really worth? Anything?

Ripley -

The argument against the "he's donating the proceeds to charity, good for him" is the fact that it's not "his" money - he would effectively be donating somebody else's money.

And nuxfan - as far as what the puck is worth, I'm sure it has some sentimental value to the 'Hawks players as they hadn't been to the finals since '92. (nor, of course, had they won since '61).

Monetary value wise - I guess that would be up to the open market to decide as you can't really put a dollar value on "sentimental value" (which can make some thing priceless).

You should ask Pronger for some of that charity money. Maybe that way you would make some cents.

Very funny Guest 4412! By chance, are you related to Gene Principe? (For those who do not know who Gene Principe is, he works Oilers games for Sportsnet West, and he's the master (?) of the pun. Some people like him, and some don't.)

By the way, anyone paying $50k for the game-winning puck in game two of the Stanley Cup finals has more money than brains. The money spent on sports memorabilia never ceases to amaze me.

Spade, there is no law saying Pronger wasn't allowed to take the puck so how is it someone else's money?

Pronger + puck = Pronger's puck

Pronger should match the highest bid, and donate all proceeds to charity. Rather than $50K, make it $100K. Sounds good to me.
