The Ottawa Senators have signed Craig Anderson to a 4 year deal. http://tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=358985
I was curious if the Sens would be able to sign him before the season was over. Maybe a bit of a long contract, but a good signing I think as Ottawa hasn't had consistently decent goaltending since Ray Emery was in net and have gotten a few duds over the past few years (Gerber, Leclaire). I hope he continues to play well there. I guess Lehner will bide his time in the AHL for a while, but he's a way off from being an NHL starter.
What do you guys think?

Its probably a good signing, and certainly what OTT was looking to do when they traded for him, I'm glad for their sake that they have their #1. I guess the question is now, will he pan out for those 4 years, or will he turn into the next version of Pascal Leclaire? |

Pascal Leclaire, injuries slowed him down, much like Rick Dipietro.
Anderson has been healthy in the past. Had a great season last year, a solid season the year before as a backup. This season he had a rough time in Colorado but now since he's with the Sens he gives them a chance to win every night.
Anderson is a good goalie and this was a good signing. Now Ottawa wins the trade hands down. Brian Elliott will never be a bonified starter. Anderson was last year, and is showing right now that he can still do it.
i know I know you can't judge a goalie on a hot streak but look at his numbers, even from his years as a backup in Florida, pretty impressive numbers. |

Really glad for Anderson, good showing for Ottawa. Nice to see a player who has to constantly prove himself over and over again finally get a nice contract, he deserves it.
Ottawa finally get their goalie. |
