Vegas eh? lol, seems a little odd. Can't really imagine a team there, lol. No one has answered this yet but wouldn't Seattle be an option? How big is it? It would make a great Vancouver rivalry! |

I like the idea. One of the big pro leagues needs to go there and give it a shot. Why shouldnt it be the NHL? Bettman will screw it up. |

How great would it be to gamble on the strip, then take in a hockey game.
I love the Vegas Penguins |

Las Vegas??? Ew no. Vegas is the most immoral, low-brow, cheap-ass city in the whole country. Yeah let's just go get drunk and gamble in a casino till we bet our house and car, then go watch a hockey game. It would attract a lot of lowlife-type people to the games, and yeah it'd help NHL revenue, but do you really want it coming from these people? It's a disgrace to the game.
P.S. ED11 I answered the Seattle question in the "Best hockey town in America" thread. I think it could sustain a team and it should. Instead of Vegas. And btw, I'm not accusing anyone here of being like what I described; there is a difference between gambling and gambling too much and getting addicted to it like so many people in Vegas do. |

I just had very good friends return from Vegas. They are neither low-lifes, nor are their morals in question. Your comments are very immature, insulting and have nothing to do with hockey. |

They returned from Vegas. They don't live there. Have you seen some of these guests' comments about Texas? They're just as insulting.
And the reason I posted that was to say why I don't want to see a team there. |

Mik, that's a pretty overbearing comment. There are "low-lifes" and "low-brow" people in every City. The issue with this is Vegas is known for certain things. Try not to paint everyone with the same brush. Vegas is an amazing place and the "low-life" population is much lower than the "non low-life" population. |

Alright fair enough. I guess that was a little overboard Sorry about that I had a lot of homework=in a bad mood. Vegas' just seemed to have a reputation for more people like that than other cities, but whatever...scratch that first post from me. |

I'm not too keen on the NHL in Vegas either, but I can tell you that The Las Vegas Wranglers (ECHL affliate of the Calgary Flames) average 5000 people a game. That is easily a thousand more than The Omaha Ak-Sar Ben Knights (AHL affiliate of the Flames) averages...although there are a lot more sports options in Omaha, such as college Football and Hockey.

They can do better than Vegas. Seattle's a great idea, not sure how in-to-hockey they are there but whatver we'll see what happens.

There is a lot of corporate money in Vegas. More than any other City they are talking about moving the team to. If they can get say Wynn or MGM to committ long term $, why not! Plus, they are putting a pretty good team in there. A team that could legitimately win the Cup in the near future if the team stays together. That would help them a lot in building a fan base quickly. |

With the canadian and american dollar almost equal to each other, why not put a team, well, anywhere in canada pretty much and it would sell. The Nhl is wondering why arenas in certain cities are not very packed, because americans dont have a crazy love for the game in general as canadians do. You could put a team in about a dozen places in ontario alone and have a sell out crowd every single game. Vegas would be kind of cool in a media attention sort of way but bring teams back to canada we wanna see more teams here.
Crosby and Stahl playing in Canada come on who WOULDNT wanna see that |

Mik, Have you been to Vegas. Yes, there may be "low lifes" around, but the city is all about class. That being said, this thread can be over, the Penguins will announce tomorrow that they are staying and have reached a deal in Pittsburgh. Hooray!!!! Go pens |

Seatle would be a great NHL city. And having another true western city would let Detroit, Nashville or Chicago join the eastern conference, which would help a lot with team costs.
Vegas would be a very successful location as well. Though it really doesn't play to the family image the NHL is aiming at.
Winnipeg is probably the best option, they have a new arena already, and the Manitoba Moose have a huge following. Winterpeg is as much a hockeytown as anywhere. |

Ok well there's really no need for this topic anymore, they're officially staying in Pittsburgh. |
