This is something you definately have to have seen to be a good judge. I can't comment on anyone before 1985, but from 85 until now, I don't think anyone could consistantly beat Dave Semenko. He was the best. Probert is #2, with Dave Brown coming in 3rd.
And anyone that would put Tie Domi in this group is a fool. Ya, he would go with anyone, and that made him a threat. But put him against Probert, Semenko, Dave Brown, Grimson, Larque, etc, and he gets thumped. He might win his odd lucky fight against these guys, but he would (and did) get consistantly worked.
The best fighter to me is the guy that won most of his fights. That was Semenko. |

Yes, in that video Probert did work him good.
I looked and there are not many videos that I have found with Semenko. I'll keep looking because he was deadly. |

I think Wendel Clark, size wise he was one of the toughest...
I would rather have a bottle in front of me, than a frontal lobotomy…

Wendal Clark was a good fighter but a cheap one too. Watching videos he always kept on hitting the players after they were down. Cheap. |

I'd say Domi was the most bravest and could have been the best fighter if he was a foot and a half taller but i still love wendal the best to. Probert scares me also he punches quick and hard |

Tony Twist was such a tough fighter that after a while no one wanted to fight him. He finally retired because of that. Antonio Twisterelli is my pick.
"Bye Bye!" John McLaughlin |

Probert sure made Domi look like not much of a fighter. That was an unquestionable win for pretty much each and every one of their fights. Just by that alone I am tempted to say he was the toughest of alltime. |

I think Probert's the most famous, or infamous, of them all. Clearly he made a name for himself by fighting in a time where the NHL was growing. I don't know if they're tougher, but I can think of a couple of guys that are up there. Clark Gillies and Bob Nystrom. |

I like Probert and Clark for the era they played but for all time? Not a chance. Gordie Howe and John Ferguson are the toughest all time. Here's an interesting site. Take it for what it is though. http://dropyourgloves.com/Fights/LeagueFights.aspx?League=1
