31-40-7 is a quite convincing, under-.500 record. Edmonton was always easy to pick on.
And Leigh, on one point where one might assume that I agree with you, I don't. It's about Vancouver being a false team. I think that if Luongo immediately takes "playoff form" then their games will all end 2-1, 2-0, 3-1 in victories. They can't score but that's ok because they won't need to. Special teams is very important in the playoffs and the fact that Vancouver has the top PK in the league is SO beneficial to them. Like I said, Vancouver is the ONLY team I do not want to see SJ face in the playoffs, unless it has to be in the Conference Finals. |

You know what Leigh... people have been saying that ever since Christmas.. and you know what else... I have been one of them. Problem is, they have proven us all wrong. Luongo has been extremely solid, and certainly has stolen some games, but the Nucks have been winning even on his 'off' games. In the entire league, only Buffalo and Nashville have more wins, and this is with Vancouver having a poor 1st half. I still am not overconfident, but proof is proof. They have still proven to me that they are certainly not a one-trick pony and a good 'team'. That being said, the west is so so tough, all the series' are going to be battles. I don't have a big preference who I hope are the Nucks 1st round opponents, althought i'm kinda hoping that it is Dallas. If you go with the statistical odds, i'd say either the Northwest or Pacific will win the cup as each has 3 strong contenders, and I believe that the West is much stronger in general than the East. I think the East team who makes it to the finals has to hope that the Western teams have beaten themselves up along the way.
You know TCT (and babs), you are probably right. Even as I was writing it I found myself struggling believing it entirely. It was definitely like that for the first 20 games into their Christmas comeback...but after that 20 games they did start playing well as a team and Luongo wasn't the only guy contributing. I still have a feeling,,,,something nagging at me that they will fall apart, maybe it's because I've been living in Van for 7 years and witnessed it each year first hand. But you are right, they have played very well and my statement didn't give them the credit they deserve.
Maybe it was the Flames fan within me rising to the surface. So let me rephrase that. They are a good team with the best goaltending in the league...but I wouldn't be surprised if they fell apart. |

Clearly the Atlantic. The Devils, with Brodeur, Elias, Gionta, Gomez, Parise, Madden, Langenbrunner, Brylin, and Zajac, among others, or the Peguins, with Crosby, Malkin, Recchi, Stall, Fleury, ... It's gonna be one of these two teams (hopefully the Devils). It's been a tight race for first for a while now, and one of these 2 teams is going all the way. I wouldn't mind seeing a 4th Stanley Cup back here in Jersey. |

Let's call a spade a spade, the winner will come from the east........ I will NEVER bet against the devils, so I guess the winner comes from the atlantic (even though pittsburgh is obviously gone in 4 straight......They'd have a better chance if I came out of retirement and played goal considering the two seives they have now), and the Rangers are hot right now and could make a run.......... only a fool bets against a defense powerhouse come playoff time (that's why the sabers and sharks will NEVER Win, they are too focused on offence).......In fact here's my finals prediction ladies and gents:
Devils vs. Wild (ie : nobody watches hahahahaha)....I think trap teams have the best shot in the playoffs, it's tough to lose 4/7 games when you play that way...and you'll rarely get blown out if you play that trap.

Not a good example Babs... Edmonton didnt start sucking until February. Until then they were right in the mix for tops in the division.
