Top 30 Scorers

Canada...........16
Russia..............4
Sweden............4
Finland.............2
Austria.............1
Czech Republic...1
Slovakia............1
Canada/USA......1

I am still amazed that with all the talent that is comming from Europe that Canada can still dominate the scoring in the NHL, top 5 are Canadian and half of the top 30 are as well...

Well, when you consider that canadians make up about half of the NHL, it isn't that surprising that they make up half of the top 30.

Though boxing in the top 5 is pretty crazy.

Well considering Europeans are generally perceived to be "skill" players I think it's something to be proud of.

I don't quite agree - actually, I would expect it slightly the other way around. The players that come over from overseas are usually the elite players and very few role players. I would expect them to, on average, be closer to the top offensively, or be great defensively. It makes sense to get most of your role players from your own back yard.

That makes sense to me, where's the disagreement coming from? It's a numbers game. More Canadians = more likely Canada will have the most top scorers.

One question. Is this being counted as the Country they play for internationally or where they were born? Heatley was born in Germany but plays for Canada.

But how embarrasing for the States. The 2nd most players in the league and not one in the top 30?? The first I found was Jason Blake at 45th.

Not surprised about Canada, but the US does. They have some skilled players.

Viktor Kozlov is also my hero!!!

All the Canadian players in the top 30 have played for Canada at either the Junior or pro level internationally, the only one that I don't believe has is Paul Stastny and he has Dual citizenship (Canada/USA)...

I think it's who they play for internationally, since some players were born in different countries than the one they play for or hold more than one citizenship; that way it's less confusing.
