Poll Question:
Will Jordan Tootoo of the Nashville Predators receive a suspension for his collision on Saturday with Ryan Miller of the Buffalo Sabres?

What the hell is wrong with these over-payed clowns?? When did the object of the game be just injure all of the other teams key players? Why don't you get back to playing the game (in case you forgot the object of the game is to put the puck in the net, not injure everyone) Teams that are unable to win the game with skill seem to be just trying to win by injuring everyone, it's pretty sad that this is what our beloved game is becoming. |

I don't believe Tootoo will be suspended. Gionta and Lucic had the same result both leading to an injured goalie: Reimer and Miller. Those were suspension worthy. Tootoo 1. Didn't injure Miller 2. shows no intention of hitting Miller. 3. He's under pressure by Christian Erhoff. What do you expect him to do? Go for a wraparound on a breakaway? Miller should be suspended from the way he reacted throwing punches on Tootoo.

Look its an easy solution, Take out the instagater rule, let the guys police themselfs, then this stuff will not happen, |

Unbelievably cheap. Tootoo didn't even have the puck when he cut across. He left his feet. He showed every intention of running Miller.
Shanny better do something or will fast become an epidemic. |

Agreed. Seems to me that this cheap stuff has been on the rise since they instituted that rule. |

both players miller and tootoo should be suspended. tootoo should be suspended even thouhg he looked to be pushed into miller because crashing the net does not mean run over the goalie i believe he had time to stop before being pushed and if he stopped in time the whole thing wouldnt have happend. Miller should be suspended because he is not the law of the NHL and had no right to attack tootoo afterward and i realize that he was plowed into alread been hurt once by that kind of play. however shanahan is the one to enforce the rules and millers reactions show that he doesnt care about shanahans rule and he is going to do whatever he wants.
i agree that the rushing the goaie should not be in the NHL. i do not agree with a goalie getting ticked off and taking matters into his own hands. if your team will not stand up for you go to another team miller was 100% in the wrong and so was tootoo. two wrongs dont make a right. both should go for 3 games or more! |

Tootoo will get a suspension based only on the fact that Miller was in the paint when it happened. |

there should be nos suspension. Tootoo is trying to cut in towards the net, Ehrhoff checks him close and puts him in a situation where contact with the goaltender is unavoidable. Goalie interference, yes. Suspension, no.
There was an almost identical play in last nights VAN/CGY game, where Booth ran right over Kipper: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DpPhoG3kcAc. That is not suspendable either. |

He should be suspended because he knew miller already had a concussion because of something just like that tootoo knew that miller just came back from a concussion plus miller should also be suspended for throwing a bunch of punches therefore they should both be suspended |

As much as I hate tootoo I say no suspension. Lucic could've avoided miller mores than tootoo. Lucic got not games, I'm not sure how you could justify giving 22 any |

so its official, Tootoo has been given a 2 game suspension. I just don't see how this offense is worthy of a suspension at all. |

Pretty simple. running the goalie in the crease. Tootoo made absolutely no attempt to avoid the goalie, and didn't even have the puck. He even jumped into him. |

Which, as I mentioned earlier, is exactly what Booth did to Kipper on Sunday night - but no suspension. I've looked at both plays, and other than the speed at which Tootoo hit Miller (which might have been the difference between a 2 min minor and a 5 min major), I don't see them as any different. And yet Tootoo sits for 2 games, and Booth does not.
To me the calls seem inconsistent. Yzerman did address them both, and pointed out what he felt were the differences that warranted a suspension, but I don't see them myself. There was a similar discussion between McSorely and MacLean on sportnet. The two plays are so comparable that it seems ridiculous to suspend one and not the other. |

Just saw both the Booth and Tootoo hits one after another for comparison, and I totally see why Tootoo received the suspension, while Booth didn't.
It looked like intent to hit, #1.
He left his feet, #2.
Didn't look like any even slight attempt was mad to slow down/avoid.
Good call Shanahan.

I have to agree. Booth didn't exactly jump and leave his feet and more or less got his arms up to protect his face. Tootoo, while he may have been attempting to avoid Miller, made it worse by jumping rather than trying to stop!
I'd also go as far to say that the fact he's Jordan Tootoo probably played into things as well. |
