Congrats Marty, you definitely earned it! I also had heard that Roy had played 63 more games then Brodeur that makes it even better!

a record a year. much to be said for longevity - and skill

Did you hear about the retired proctologist? He spent 40 years saying "what's a place like this doing in a girl like you?"

retire!

he won't win another cup and he is only tarnishing what had been an incredible career of dominance.

what i'm trying to say is this last couple years he has not been the same goalie at all and it is hurting his image... he's got this record now let the team build around its new stars.

I hear what you are saying, but . . . it doesn't make sense.

1) His team is in the playoffs - he helped get them there with quite good regular season numbers (31-21-4, SV% .908, GAA 2.41, 3 shutouts)

2) His numbers in the playoffs so far:
2-1, 2.39 GAA, .910 save %, 1 shutout

So . . . what I am hearing from you is that Gretzky should have retired after 7 years in the league? Sellane should have retired after his rookie season? Like, if you can't perform at your once "MVP" type level, you are all washed up - because now, you're only a top ten, top 15 goalie in the league?

Even thought Broduer is not the #1, head and shoulders above the rest goalie in the NHL, I would still put him in my top 10 in the league, maybe top 15.

If he can still put together 30+ win season, is helping his team win, and still enjoys the game than I think he should play.

The best keeper of our generation and likely in history is something I want to watch for as long as I possible can.

Daniel Alfredsson is the MVP of the universe. All hail the Ottawa Senators!!!!!

Agreed. Let him play until he doesn't want to play anymore or until he gets played out of his position. This is similar to another goaltender whom I believe is at the end of his career. I wont make the same arguement for Roloson, as I believe his NHL caliber play is behind him and think now is the time for him to beer league it.

Honestly, I think Marty has earned the right to play until he wants to let hockey go, he is playing well enough that I would say he is contributing to the teams success (see the above posts for stats). He is one of the best of all time and perhaps only number 2 behind St. Patrick.

Congrats Marty! Devils might not win a cup behind him this year but I bet TB wished he was in net for them.

I honestly want him back for the Devils. People say he had a slower year, but actually he is still quite good. People also forget that he had some injuries the last couple of years that really hurt his performance, look at the last half the season, he was pretty solid.

Dang, forgot to mention he is like a huge leader to the entire team, kind of an icon all the younger players and such look up to.
