"There should be no mistake that this is only in the event the lease terminates in Nashville and under no other circumstances," Mr. Rodier said. "It's simply a contingency plan to make sure we have a place to play in the event there is no lease in Nashville"
They make it sound like a Plan B but it is blatently obvious that his intent is to move it to a hockey market and right now the only one truly viable option is Hamilton. Any US city is a huge risk and there are not many other truly viable options in Canada (Winnipeg maybe but not likely)
If they sell for $238 million US then imagine how much teams like Toronto will be worth?! WOW! |

Well good luck finding a town that can sustain having a team. In that one thread I made I named every Canadian city I could think of that didn't already have a team and I was told none of them could support one (except maybe Winnipeg). BTW, didn't this Balsillie guy try to get the Penguins into Winnipeg? Now he wants to move the Preds to Canada. Makes you wonder if the only reason he's involved with this whole business is to move more teams to up north. That's not a bad thing, in fact with Nashville it's a good thing, but the Penguins? C'mon, the Pittsburghers love their team. He just needs to watch it a little and only push to move teams in ridiculous hockey places like Nashville. |

Hamilton council approved having the Predators move there.
We'll see how he does selling season tickets. http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=210730&hubname=
If the team moves to Hamilton I will officially become a fan of the team.

I don't blame the Jersey fans, I blame their management for an unwatchable style of hockey. Dead puck garbage for over a decade.

May I ask why? Is it solely selfish reasons?
It's easy to see why a team would be moved to Hamilton. The population of Ontario is over 12 Million. The vast majority of which are concentrated in south western Ontario. The Population of Hamilton is just over 500 000 but there are many other cities within a reasonable distance to add fan support along with huge corporate dollars.
Winnipeg could probably sustain a team but it wouldn't make sense over Hamilton.

They should move all the american teams except for colorado, minnesota, detroit, and add wisconsin
what do Calgary and a tea bag have in common- they're both only good for one cup |

Move ALL of them?? Canada isn't financially capable of having so many teams. Hamilton is the only viable option as of right now. Winnipeg might be possible. The others aren't. It'd be a great idea based on the fans since Canada is full of them, but unfortunately there isn't the money to make it happen. |

True there games are boring to watch but still did you see the nets vrs raptors series. The place had a hard time selling tickets In the playoffs they should be more supportive. And they should send the american teams to TORONTO

I just thought of this...Hamilton is south of Toronto, am I right? And Buffalo's not too far away either. So that means the team would be right in between the Leafs and the Sabres. That's some serious competition. Leafs fans will still be Leafs fans, and Sabres fans will still be Sabres fans. They're not going to suddenly convert to Predators fans, they're still gonna go to their team's games. They might go see the Preds when they play their team, but it's not like they'd go on a regular basis. People living in Hamilton who may have previously been Leafs or maybe Sens or Sabres fans will go to the Preds games routinely, and that would affect the attendance of the other teams' games. Putting a team right smack in the middle of two hockey hotbeds isn't the smartest move. Nashville is not a hockey town, don't get me wrong, but at least they have fans and could make a profit and not interfere with other teams, because there aren't any other teams conveniently near Tennessee. I don't have a problem with the Preds being moved, and I don't have a problem with another team in Canada, it's just that I dunno if Hamilton will work out for the reasons I mentioned. But let's hope it does. |

Ontario could deffiently support another hockey team. This could be what them Leafs need. Maybe this would lower their ticket prices and JFJ would finally put a decent product on the ice. Right now Leaf tickets are very overpriced and they still manage to sell out every game. The head office knows this and is therefore continuing to do nothing to improve the team. Maybe with another Ontario team in driving distance it could light a fire underneth FJF ass!!! hopefully he burns!!!!! |

I see your point, but I think that you're underestimating the ever growing problems of the Leafs organization. I've found that as the Sabes have progressed into a contender, because of ticket shortages in the GTA and the overall impression that the Leafs organization is heading into the toilet, more and more Ontario natives in the golden horseshoe are converting. I imagine that a team in Hamilton would be wildly successful, especially if they had the right marketing pitch (perhaps the "we are the anti-Leafs" pitch). My sense is that people in Toronto are sick of the Leafs organization's perennial f*ck ups and are ready for a change. And with it being absolutely impossible to get a pair of tickets to a Leafs game, I have a feeling Torontonians would make the commute 41 times a year, enough to sell out every night. Even more people would do it to be original. To say, "I've been with the team since the beginning." Plus the population in the golden horseshoe and western new york is close to 10 million. You only have to have around 12-14 thousand of them buying seasons, and the rest to buy single games. The sabes sold out every game this year with a draw of only 2 million, including southern ontario (south of st. catharines).

A team in Hamilton will be very succsessful, but both Toronto, and Buffalo will have to vote them into the league...It will not happen...Toronto is the issue...
EDIT Do the Hamilton Fincups ring a bell, an OHL team that was not supported...NHL, all Leaf fans at the games...
