4616, thanks for the contribution. A little grammer/spell check is a good thing for future polls. I cleaned up your post so it could be understood. |

I think Esposito will have a year in the juniors as will Gagner. I think its a toss up between Backstrom and Toews. it's between those two for sure though.

Sam Gagner has the best chance to make an NHL team, and get the ice time needed to make an impact. He played great in the summit series, and in the first Edmonton pre season game. It will be tough to keep him out of the lineup...Time will tell, it is still a little early...

Toews without question. He will add much needed depth into the Black Hawks line up and he is a good reliable player.

I haven't watch much pre-season, but Gagner looked SICK in his first game with the Oil. I can really see him being there for the season opener and having about 15 games to test his medal.

Sam Gagner still doesn't have a contract, so I don't see him making much of an impact. Personally, I believe two players not mentioned will make the biggest impact: Brett Sterling and Benoit Pouliot. Sterling could easily be lined up with Kovalchuk or Hossa, resulting in many points. So far in the preseason, Pouliot has been between Gaborik and Demitra, which needless to say also means a lot of points. Another big impact player could be Bobby Ryan, who likely will be playing with Getzlaf and Bertuzzi on Anaheim's big powerline. Also Peter Mueller will make a splash with Phoenix, adding much needed scoring talent to the lineup. I could go on, but those are some players who seriously deserve some recognition. |

Guest 7170, maybe you should register. Looks like you have some pretty good opinions. Bobby Ryan for example has lead the current Stanley Cup Champs in scoring in the pre-season. With the lose (or more than likely lose) of Selanne, Neidermayer, and Penner: that's a lose of 92 goals and 208 points from last year. Bertuzzi and Schnieder will not make that up themselves. Ryan has a good shot of staying up if he can put the pucks in the net!
One thing though, I would't worry about Gagner not having a contract. The Oilers have a ton of money left under the cap and a shortage of offensive centres. If anything keeps Gagner out of the line up, it's Cogliano, not money. Cogliano has 4 goals on 12 shots and 6 points, is +2, and looks great between Penner and Hemsky. So, I am thinking Cogliano could be good for 50-60 points at least if he stays up and plays on that line.
