The Blackhawks, already the (at least my) odds on favorites to win their fourth Stanley Cup in seven years certainly didn't hurt themselves at the dead line.

Who are your winners and losers? I count Vancouver among the losers.

Did you hear about the retired proctologist? He spent 40 years saying "what's a place like this doing in a girl like you?"

Vancouver was hamstrung (there's a pun in there somewhere) by the no trade clauses on Hamhuis and Vrbata, and the rest of their UFAs had pretty much been already sent down (Prust, etc) and were not going to fetch anything.

Really, a trade with Hamhuis should have happened a week earlier if it was going to.

Auston Mathews anyone?

I think Chicago was the clear winner leading up to the deadline, but Staal to the Rangers, Boedker to Colorado, Ladd to Chicago might have been the best players moved. My money is on Staal having a resurging career and being the best player moved.

And my money is still on Chicago to win the cup!

Gotta agree with you there. The only other team to make large improvement to an already stacked team was LA, maybe Anaheim. To me Chicago has been the most impressive mover and shacker this season.
