The holiday trade freeze is over and word on the street is Vancouver and Colorado are getting into a bidding war over Buffalo's Marty Biron. Both are in need of a number 1 guy. In Vancouver, Brendan Morrison is rumored to be on the block, along with John Michael Liles of Colorado.
Well as much as I like watching Morrison play I'm sorry to say that Vancouver needs a goalie even more than him. He's had a rough year (pointwise) and is pretty expendable I think. He's a good player playing on a great line...anyone could have put up his numbers from the past playing between Bertuzzi and Naslund. He'll be missed but can be replaced.
The real question is "Is Biron really a true #1". Or is he just having a good year? I'm not convinced he's as good as he appears. He has only 2 seasons with more than 20 wins. He has 0 playoff games. His Save % is below .900 and has no shut outs. All this on the hottest team in the league. Not just a hot team but a solidly winning team. So...is he good or is his team good?
I say Nonis should be on the phone with Florida myself.
Let's face it - they need a goalie. Most important position in the game. I think they will wait until the trade deadline though as they will be able to get a lot more for a lot less. Maybe Morrison for Luongo - that would be sweet.
