The Crosby is overrated thing is garbage. Th kid had 100+ in his first to years, was the MVP of his second year and is consistently in the top 5 in league scoring.
Crosby has no one to play with. Malkin isn't on his line. Staal isn't on his line. I think he has Recchi and some pylon. And he's still up in the top 5. Is that overrated to you?? |

He has been on Malkin's line since maybe the first 5 games this season. There is now way Crosby is overated though.

Malkin is completed by Crosby, not the other way around.
Just look who gets all the assists! Last year it was Recchi finishing Crosby's plays, now it's Malkin. It could be anyone. Not that I'm knocking Malkin or Recchi's ability, but Crosby is the main guy, don't ever forget it!

Here's what Corsby likes to do
Pass -- GOAL Pass -- GOAL Pass -- GOAL
INterview: Mr. Crosby, to what do you attribute this great success?
(Modestly) to my teammates.
Rest of world: CROSBY IS AMAZING

Not saying Malkin completes Crosby but now Crosby finally has somebody on his line that can finish off his plays instead of Armstrong or Recchi

Ya. But he got 120 last season.
All you need is somebody who can skate and knows that the goal of the game it so take passes from Crosby and put them in the net.

Crosby was on his own last season. Savard was on his own last season. Malkin does help him though, it got him out of his little drought at the beginning of the season didn't it?

Nash, you're a numbers guy.
Savard is a point per game player this season. Crosby isnt gonna hit last years totals.
Crosby has Malkin. Savard has Sturm and Kessel.
The support isn't what makes them. I'm telling you. They'll still be where they were last yer. Their linemates will have more points than last year's, though.

Glad you figured that one out at least, I am a numbers guy.
Savrd only played with Kessel ha;f the season last year and same with Sturm.
Crosby might get about 110 points this season. Joe thornton challenged him last year after only having about 60 points after the all-star break.

Yes. Because Thronton produced when Cheechoo was able to finish off his plays. Perfect example of someone who needs support.
Where is he this year without Cheechoo?

He's actually sitting at 28 points. Thornton was another guy who didn't play with the player you mentioned the whole season, he only played with him most of the first half and some of the second half.

28 For someone who is supposed to be rivaling Crosby for the league lead in points. That is just above a PPG

He was 12 points behind Crosby at the all-star break. Crosby isn't even in first! Crosby has to catch Lecavelier before Thornton can catch him.

Kovalchuk will slow down. Either him or Hossa, which will mean him. Not incredibly, but enough to give Crosby advantage.
Iggy will keep his pace in the long run. Crosby will exceed it.
I don't know if I'd put money on Vinny slowing down enough to give Crosby number one by season's end. He might surprise us.

All - time most overrated: Larry Murphy
Can't remember if he's in the HOF yet or not, but yeah - soft, soft, soft. A bum, in my mind. Obviously he had skills back in the day - but WAY too overrated, IMO. |

Mats Sundin!!! by far!! and it doesn't help that he can do no wrong in the eyes of CBC play by play announcers either. |

Sundi is single-handedly carrying the maple leafs this season. Whenever they need a big goal, he either gets it or sets it up.
Can't say I agree that he's overated.

Alex, if you compare all the great scorers in the league to Thornton, they all ahev a great player playing beside them.
Kovalchuk- Hossa Lecavelier- St. Louis and Prospal Crosby- Malkin Ovechkin- Nylander and Semin Iginla- Tanguay Zetterberg- Datsyuk Alfredsson- Heatley Sundin- Well, nobody Mike Richards- Briere
Then Thornton- Setoguchi???????? Michalek???????
