In previous years, the Central was always labelled as the worst division in the NHL. People always said that the reason Detroit had good point totals was because of the division they played in.
Chicago, St. Louis & Columbus have all improved this year. If my calculations are right, Detroit is 5-5-2 in divisional play this year. They have yet to beat Chicago.
It’s pretty safe to say that the Central is no longer the easiest division.
My choice is the Southeast. With teams like Tampa, Atlanta, Florida, and Washington, there are a couple of question mark teams and a couple of bad teams. Carolina takes the title of the new Detroit, feeding off a weak division.
Another choice would be the Pacific. You have L.A. and Phoenix in this division, who are considerably weaker teams than San Jose, Dallas & Anaheim.
