NEW YORK - Former Canadian Olympic teammates Jarome Iginla of the Calgary Flames and Vincent Lecavalier of the Tampa Bay Lightning have been named captains for the Jan. 27 NHL all-star game in Atlanta.
Iginla, making his fourth career all-star game appearance, will wear the 'C' for the Western Conference while Lecavalier, skating in his third all-star game, will lead the East.
Both players were voted in as starters in fan balloting. ------------------------ Thoughts?

iggy and vinnie? i wanna see the whole all-star roster before i agree, my opinion lidstrom or pronger should lead the west and for the east i think lecavalier is too young why not guys like brian campbell or Eric Staal Marion hossa, but i guess there ok "C's" but those arnt my picks

Lidstrom and Pronger both on West....Anyways Iginla is a great pick and I think the best choice. Lecavalier is a great captain but maybe not the best i'd give it to Alfredsson with Lecavalier my next choice.
P.S - Who do you think should replace Paul Stastny (He's Injured), My vote goes to Huselius or Hemsky. Huslius is on a tear right now and can do some magic in the ASG. Hemsky may not be the best player to choose but he's the most talented and has some amazing dangles, Put him in an all-star game where it's nothing to lose I bet he'd put on a show. |

Oh right forgot. Gonna be either Wolski, Hejduk, Brunette or Svatos. My order would be Jeduk, Brunette, Wolski, Svatos. |

On another note,
THIS SUCKS!
I lost Stastny & Heatley to injury in my pool. I was trying to play catch up, not happening now. :(
Also, does this rule apply for both West and East? Wondering because, East have three players from Ottawa. .

Irvine how about this....
Lost Heatley, Boyle, Stastny and Williams. My 1st plase reign was short lived and not sure if it'll ever be up again. |

My question is how does Hossa make it and guys like Mike Green, Sundin, and Kovalev not make it? I like Hossa and all, but seriously. Given his performance so far (I know he's picked up his play of late) how do you leave out those guys? And from the west how do they not put in Patrick Sharp from Chicago instead of Duncan Keith!? Like, who? He's not even chicago's best defenseman! I just shake my head at some of the choices |

Iggy and Vinny are great choices for captains. Both have paid their dues and both are superstar players who are better than everyone else. So why not put the C on them? Your choices have me shaking my head Leafsfan....Marion Hossa? Are you serious? Your choices are not even captains on their own respective teams....I know Vinny isn't a captain. But he WAS captain before that whole dispute over salaries between him and Tampa. |

Too young? It is not about how young you are, its all about the leadership aspect of teh game and the powerful influence he has on other players, Jarome is an exceptional captai nfor his own team and not to mention the stats he puts up as well as Vinny, both lead by example |

Crosby deserves to be in the All Star game, no question about that. But with his injury, it's nice to see Malkin getting the chance. Another worthy candidate to begin with.
EDIT: I forgot to add, I am very disapointed they put S. Neidermyer in the All Star game. He has only played 17 games this season, and not like it was due to injury. :/ This is kind of upsetting. He is a great defensmen, don't get me wrong. But, there are other players who have proved MORE worthy THIS season than Neidermyer.

THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU LEAVE IT TO FAN VOTING!!!! I prefered the old way where it was chosen by people how knew what the hell they were talking about!!!

Yes and no Guest, yes and no
The All-Star game really is the best way for the NHL to gain attention. Incorporating the fans, making every team get a representative... these are up for debate, but it is the NHLs way of trying to get viewers and more money. I'm mostly against it, as I am a fan. But if you are sitting with a bunch of board members breathing hard down your neck, I think it is very much up for discussion

Wait a second, is Sundin not in the game?! I was sure he was! Who is representing TO if not him, Kaberle?

Even though I like him, I would have put anyone in there other than Scotty. |
