Poll Question:
Of all the NON-PLAYOFF TEAMS, which team will vault themselves into the playoffs?
If you think that there will be more than one, pick the one that you think will finish the highest and write in your other picks. I seem to be able to only post eight choices, so write-in if your choice is Edmonton, Chicago, Florida, or (gasp) the Buds.
Last year it was the Rangers with a monster second half, and no one really picked them - hell, they were regarded as out of the race with something like 30 games to go, if memory serves correct. This year - I'll throw my hat in the prediction ring and say . . . Columbus. Sound, defensive hockey under Hitch's system, and the young lads are showing discipline and poise, winning a lot of tight games.

Alex, I just don't see the Rangers making it this year. I know they surprised everyone last year, but I have a long memory of many NYR teams laden with overpriced superstars who underperformed, and I think last season was a blip for them.
If they paid too much "not to get results", then I suppose I should be looking for a big second half performance from Kubina, Tucker, Blake and McCabe (when back from injury) to vault the Leafs in the playoffs! But it sounds like a dream to me . . . bottom line: Rangers have been kept afloat by Lundqvist, Jagr isn't the same guy, and no one is really "clicking". My prediction is they fall even further down the standings.
Shinny - Phoenix, however, could be there. They are playing really well on the road, but with a fairly young club, it's always hard to tell. Gretzky's caught on to the coaching thing it seems, and this club has a pretty bright future with all the young guys.

I think it'll be Phoenix as well, with Colorado dropping out of the chase.

I have no faith in my preds
St. Louis is doing really well. As long as Legace stays healthy, they should make it.
Ellis or Mason?

The preds were also really good with Vokoun, Hartnell, Kariya, Timonen (captain) and Sullivan has been out this season.
