Real tough one here. I would say it's between J.Thornton and M.Savard.

It's Joe Thornton. The reason he is such a good playmaker is when he gets the puck 2-3 guys tend to follow him. And since he has such a big body he can protect the puck and then feed a pass to one of the open guys because 2-3 guys have followed him. That's why he is the best passer! |

I would say that Andrei Markov should be considered, on the PP this year he made a couple of amazing pass which almost all result in goals for the Canadiens.

Do tell your great logic behind Crosby as the best passer I'd love to hear it and not "If he played the whole season he'd be leading in assists". Also I am doing this by playmaking ability, not passing ability, I'd rank it: 1. Thornton, 2. H.Sedin, 3. Crosby. Reason being that both Thornton and Sedin have something more than the ability to pass. Thornton is a big body which draws defenders to him which opens space up for his line mates, as mentioned above. And Sedin just has a sort of 6th sense when it comes to playmaking, It's almost as though he knows what will happen before it even happens and he has the ability to find a player that seemed un-findable. |

Joe Thornton hands down. Honourable mention goes to Tomas Kaberle. And all time of course it's Adam Oates

Thank you. I was about to mention the same of Kaberle. I've sen him make so many brilliant passes. On this list though, I'd have to go with Thornton as well. He was my #1 pick on my pool roster this year.

The guy who finishes with like 80-95 assists each year, Thornton.

I love Joey T but I can't believe none of you have said Datsyuk, he makes some unbelievable passes you don't even thjnk are possible. And look how small he is, he doesn't even have a huge body like Malkin or Joe to help protect the puck with. Datsyuk is definately the best stick handler in the league in my opinion. |

It appears everybody on here is under the assumption that the best passer is the guy who gets the most assists or is the best passer in the offensive zone. What about the breakout pass and the guy quarterbacking the PP? In the offensive zone I am going to have to say there is a three way tie between Savvy, Thornton and Spezz. All three guys have spectacular vision and have a knack for finding the open man and threading the needle. But what about the guy making the stretch pass or breakout pass?! I'm going to have to go with Pronger hands down but Kaberle is definitely second. Without these guys the puck doesn't get into the offensive zone so easily. |
